Currently have a Ram without tow hooks.

Interested in getting a pair of tow hooks and powder coating, but think I also need to replace the plastic piece on the inside of the bumper. Don’t want to cut.

Any idea what’s involved?

If you have the steel front bumper there are plastic covers with the cutouts in them already. I think part number

So are you saying it’s made to “punch out”?

There are 2 different inserts. The solid ones you have now & a set for the tow hooks that are molded with the cut outs.

I cut mine but will be looking for the correct ones.

You replace the ones in your bumper now with the ones with the part number listed above. Or you can cut out an opening in the ones you currently have in your bumper.

So quick question...

I called the dealer and they said this part number is not compatible with my RAM. Not making sense as to why they wouldn’t.

This is my vehicle...

While there are some differences from 2015 to 2018, your front bumper on looks to be the same as mine on a 2018.

I ordered Ram 1500 Tow Hooks (82210967FS) and a Tow Hook Panel kit (68196982AA), and they fitted up nicely. The panel kit makes it look more finished with less effort, but a really skilled and motivated DIY'er could probably cut the OE panels to fit more closely to the hooks than is the case with the official version. I was happy because the panels only cost $28, which is pretty affordable. They came with new fasteners too.

Edit: I did not need to remove the bumper fascia to install

I ordered the correct bezels for hooks (rather then the filler panel) from eBay.

Make sure the hooks you get come with the mounting brackets. The ones I scored didn’t, and had to use 2011 Dakota brackets as the new brackets aren’t a stand alone part number. It worked fine, but an extra cost.

That’s what’s crazy. Parts counter was like this part number is compatible with ‘03-‘20, but not based on your VIN. I was like the bumper is made to accommodate the hooks. I think they just gave me bad intel.

When you talk about the fascia, my understanding is I should be able to replace the panel with the bezel. Got that right?

I cut the panel on my truck. The hole I cut is just big enough for the tow hooks to fit into. It does look good.

But for $28.....if I had to do it again, I'd probably pay the money.

Installed on my ram yesterday. Took 30 minutes. You'll need a 10mm socket for the 4 nuts per bumper cover, and then a 18mm for the 2 nuts and 1 bolt to install the actual tow hooks. The Mopar kit isn't available so I ended up getting the new plastic slotted bumper covers and knock off tow hooks from amazon for around $170. Covers fit perfect and the tow hooks i had to slice off the top driver side locator pin as they mirrored the bracket backwards. Otherwise its a 1 beer super simple upgrade. Ill try to take some pics later today if it stops raining. The only different i am aware of is some early 4th gens had the locator pins both on the inside of the frame rails, where as later models(mine is an 18) had the driver side on the outside of the rail and the passenger on the inside. Hence why I had to cut the bracket as I suspect the Chinese company just stole the mold from an earlier tool.

Anyone ever use the tow hooks with any success? Ones I’ve seen have all bent the crap out of the hooks and bumper.

If you are adding to a 2013-2018 sport/express model I have designed brackets that allow you to mount stock tow hooks facing in the correct direction (facing outwards). See the pictures of before and after. The stock mounts only let you mount the tow hooks facing inward without cutting too far into your plastic insert. These mounts allow you to keep them at the edge. If anyone is interested please message me or reply and I will have you some made - $50 plus shipping

I bought the same ones. Good quality. Looks like the price went up!

Are these actually available again? I was looking to order them in February and they were backordered until June or July. I ended up going through a dealer over in Ohio who shipped them to me.

No idea if they are available again. I ordered quite some time ago, and paid less as you did too.
