Any pics? I was thinking about debadging my truck, but it’s an 08 and I’m worried that you’d be able to tell where they badges had been just from the sun not affecting the paint there for the last 11 years

It all depends on the paint, my red truck you cant debadge it, the paint has faded to two different colors, but red is usually the worst, but typically you can wet sand and polish the areas that need the most love.

This was the original tailgate to my black truck, oem paint, severely abused paint, and ungodly ghosting after the emblems were removed...

And this was after some wet sanding and a good polishing...

But that truck now has a new bed and tailgate on it, the tailgate in those pix is actually now red, shaved and on my daily driver, here is a picture of that tailgate today

Today I took my truck to a local tech who specializes in Chevy/Dodge/Ford/Ram to find the source of my rear-end noise. Turns out the rear diff is limited slip "Trak Loc". The fluid was... disgusting. It looked like raw/crude oil and smelled worse. So, I have a differential service in my near future. I'm hoping a thorough cleaning and re-lubrication can keep it going for another 100k (or more).

Been trying to locate a set of rear fender liners for the truck but they are discontinued. Anyone got any leads?

Set it as a saved search with notifications on ebay, that's how I was finally able to find a set (and that was a year or two ago).

Ordered pistons and seals to rebuild my passenger front caliper since it's started to lock up intermittently and I'm not dropping $1000 or so for a replacement lol.

I started a complete front suspension replacement: upper control arms, lower control arms, strut assembly, sway bar links and inner and outer tie rod ends.

Way slower than I expected.

I can’t get the strut assembly lower bolt out or the lower control arm bolts out.

I guess I am going to have to cut the lower strut assembly bolt out.

Probably the same with the lower control arm bolts.

I think this is going to be a multi-day job.

Do you have a 4x4? If so, that lower strut bolt is a bear. I cut the bolt head off and used an air hammer to push it through the bushing in the lower control arm.

Yes it’s a 4x4.

I picked up replacement bolts from the dealer, $35 Canadian each :(

They look pretty hefty. I hope my reciprocating saw can cut them.

I picked up a Milwaukee Diablo carbide metal blade just to see how it would work.

If I get to the bolts cut today it’ll be a win.

I got the MaxTrac rear drop-shackles installed this evening. It got rid of some rear-end squeaking, and now I want to replace the rest of the worn-out suspension bushings. And add a rear swaybar.

I am pretty pumped I managed to cut off the bolts holding the lower control arm and strut assembly.

Unfortunately to pull out the lower control arm from the knuckle you have to loosen the CV joint nut.

I wish I knew that because it would have been easier to loosen the nut while the vehicle was on the ground but with a lot of use of PB blaster and heat the nut came off.

I noticed there was no grease on the end of the CV joint where it slides into the knuckle.

Is that normal?
