Over the weekend changed the front and rear differential oil, the transfer case oil, and the changed the transmission pan, filter and oil. Installed a PPE aluminum deep trans pan and trans temps went down 10 degrees. Also had an Edge 3200-3400 torque converter installed. Acceleration improved considerably, traction from standstill decreased considerably. LOL

Replaced my license plate lights. Had LED bulbs before and one went out so I got new housings.

Also added resistors to my dash speakers.

Today I let my dad use it on the job site. I think he regrets selling it back to me. He had to go get felt paper. That being said I got my first installment of bulk chemical guys!

I've got the same plate lights, they're great. My only complaint is they're almost too bright. Backing up at night becomes an issue as the plate lights wash out the cameras balance. Easy fix is to turn of running lights.

I dropped my truck off to get my 35's mounted. Of course they called and said it was ready about a half hour after I got to work. So now the anticipation eats away at me until morning.

Unfortunately this happened to me Sunday. Approximately 2000 miles and zero offroad on my BDS control arms.

IMG_0799a.jpg

State trooper told me there was at least 300 feet of skid mark about 2 feet away from the guard rail...yep...I was there for that.

I sent all these photos to BDS. Their tech support tells me their control arms are not recommended for their 4" lift kits. Not the same thing the sales person told me when I was convinced to buy them. Bottom line I am paying out of pocket to replace the tire, cv axle, abs sensor, tie rod end, sway bar end link, and possibly a lower ball joint. Tech support was only willing to cover their parts so I'm being sent more crappy Moog "Problem Causer" ball joints.

I was told using the Fox 2.0 coilover shocks with the 4" lift and it's required spacers has not been tested by them so they wouldn't accept liability for their product failure. No Fine Print warranty my ass! He told me their 4" lift kit is based on using stock struts. I asked what's the difference since the fox shocks were set to factory height per the instructions and going back to factory struts I'd still have the same height issues and angles on the control arms. No response. The shop that did my install is just as shocked by BDS and their response. My shop recommended we raise the front an inch to decrease the angle of the control arms and go to 3 inch spacers in the rear to keep it level. After seeing how others of you out there have the 6" lift and suffered the same failure you'd think BDS would realize there's a serious problem with the ball joints they are using!

It's very aggravating that BDS won't step up for their product failure and how this could have been a far worse situation...potentially life ending! Of course my setup was going to work fine when I was convinced to make the purchase of their control arms, but now that something has seriously gone wrong they are back tracking with quickness. Say anything to make the sale...then find any reason not to honor up to collateral damage cause by a failure of their parts.

Shout out to the tow driver that got me from Gettysburg to Dillsburg where I was able to get the replacement ball joint and to the AAA tow driver that got me all the way back to WB. I was able to get the ball joint replaced Sunday night and had to order a new abs sensor from Amazon since it wasn't available locally at 1/8 the price. My shop got the new tire in this afternoon along with the replacement cv shaft so I'm setting up to bring it to them Thursday morning.

If anyone has recommendations of control arms that I can trust...please share. Worried about the passenger side ball joint just going "snap" on me at any time like this one did. No excuse for this failure with such low miles after a month.

Sounds like you got a lot of bad advice from everyone.
Research is your best decision maker, too many "I was tolds" tends to go badly.
If you're not off roading there's no reason to alter the truck's geometry, especially using the advice of others.
Good luck with the repairs, sorry about your damage.

Glad you made it out in one piece.

Yeah with the 4in lift it puts their control arms at a weird upwards angle. But I believe I have seen a few members here running them like that without issue.

But is the ball joint a moog like the cap says?

There have been a few ball joint failures listed here lately from BDS. Can't remember if they were 4th or 5th gens but when there are multiples within a few weeks of eachother (before yours) something has to be up. @ram1500rsm I believe posted about the other recent failures. Sorry if I am remembering that incorrectly.

Have used their products for several years on the exterior of various vehicles I have. You won't bet disappointed. :waytogo:

Was planning on off-roading when I got back to NC.

Sorry to hear. Getting to see the BDS decal on the control arms of a crappy uca BJ is getting scary. . Just curious when did you get those UCA's installed? Nov-Dec last year?

BDS is not owning the issue. You're not alone. The 5th gen truck forum has seen 2-3 failures like this last month in the 6" lifts with coilovers so their most expensive offering. In all cases the BJ seems to be faulty and literally snapping off in the same spot. I posted pics and copied the info from the others dudes in the 5th gen section here.

I'll post your pics in the other forum. Maybe you guys can get together and start getting more than just a damn uca replacement form BDS.

Yep, pics and details were copied from the other forum in the 5th gen section here.
Something is going on with those BDS UCAs. BDS is muted. In the meantime they just hand you a BJ replacement if you filled out the warranty paperwork. So much for BDS " premium warranty".... trucks are getting trashed with those BDS UCAs Let alone everybody has been lucky they haven't caused more damage to others people/property god forbid.

Installed a new grill, trying to decide if I love it or not.

View attachment 244370

I like this style grill a lot. I see so many custom fab grills for the HD's that have just too much going on. I'm trying to simplify / clean up the front end on mine. I'm probably going to go this route when I have the coin. My truck came with the OEM Black quads so its just begging for a black grill to pull it all together.
