So I searched the forum for a thread like this and didn't find anything. I figured it would be fun to have a thread that everyone can watch what everyone is doing each week.

This week I put on Steelcraft nerf bars, and right now I'm getting the permaplating put on the truck. This way it gets a real good bath.
I took my truck up to Quick-Shifter’s shop, ak_trucks_pa, for ball joints, serpitine belt & coolant flush.
I’m closer to 10 years than 100k, at 91k now, but I like to stay ahead of preventive maintenance when I can & always enjoy going to his shop.
It is like going to your favorite barber shop, if your anywhere within a couple hundred miles of his shop take your truck there once & I’ll bet like me it will be the only shop you will take your truck to!

Performed an oil and filter change, as well as putting in a new cabin air filter.

Switched over to Valvoline full synthetic high mileage 5w-30 oil, and used the same FRAM FE10060 filter I always use in my truck.

Also have begun keeping a log book of any and all maintenance I perform.

Yesterday I swapped my front wheels onto the rear and the rears into the front, also managed to break one of my hub caps so that's $50 dollars I gotta spend after replacing the now rear tires.

This week new Rear Pads and Rotors...158k miles and they went' metal on metal.

Got a deal on 315/70R17 at3's. They only had 3k miles on them and paid $600 bucks. The cleared in all normal and off road mode. Never use entry exit....super close to the upper a arm but they clear, may run 1/4 spacers for breathing room.
That's good info. Thinking of jumping to 305/70/17s next time around. Currently running 285/70/17s w/2.5" lift.

Finally got my unlocked PCM installed and loaded my 1st tune. Much easier to get the plugs off with a small screwdriver due to the plug cover pulling out of the bottom then I thought. Just inched the locks down and came off easy. Cut the old zip ties and reinstalled the covers properly, also cleaned and lubed the locking tab track. Tune went good and without issues and drives great. Only used 87 tune, with performance trans tune and mds deactivate for now. Will test it more and after my upcoming camping trip will try out 91 or 93 octane tune. The trans tune is great and shifts smooth and crisply.

New struts up front, new shocks in rear. New upper and lower ball joints, inner and outer tie rods, sway bar links, sway bar bushings, replaced driver cv axle, replaced passenger cv axle seal, replaced lower control arm bushings.

The biggest pain in the ass was getting the bolts out from the lower strut mount. I had to take my die grinder and cut the feet off of the bottom of the old strut so I could get it out and then I had to give the bolt all the beans that my air hammer had to get the bolt out of the bushing. It was easily 3 minutes of just hammering the bolt waiting for it to move. After that I had to take my ball joint press and press out the rubber in the middle so I could get my sawzall in the hole to cut the outer metal ring of the bushing in half just to get it out. If anyone is doing struts at home I highly recommend new control arm bushings and new bolts for the strut. Mine were pretty corroded but I couldn't find any locally so I jammed the old ones back in on the new strut.

There was definitely a difference in the steering, and now its sitting at the alignment shop waiting for Tuesday when they can get the alignment done

Changed the oil and filter. Drained the old oil at 4500 miles and it was fairly dark. I'm on the second fill of valvoline restore and protect.

I had one of my exhaust hangers break on a trip to NC, our company mechanic welded up for me for free, but was “less than straight”.
I figured for the cost I couldn’t complain, but bothered me every time I saw it.
I took it to the custom exhaust shop that installed my cats, wasn’t free but happy with the work.
So about a week later the mount holding the exhaust hanger snapped, back to the exhaust shop. Looking closer after the 1st trip the right one was 1/3” out further than left & both a little too much inside.
They put new mounts on both sides, moved tip in & recentered them.
Gave me a good deal, mounts were new work & they did ask me to check before I left 1st time, so I wasn’t pushing for a no charge.

Going on a 2k trip and only had 550 miles on oil so I only changed the filter,I wanted to make the switch to a RP 10-48 from the XP and cut it open and the last oil filter on the caddy a RP 20-500 which I can’t fit on the ram due to the length.I did respray the undercoating and white lithium on all the bushings and rubber. Its good fun for me.image.jpgimage.jpgIMG_4453.jpegIMG_4454.jpegimage.jpg

Had the oil changed last week. I'll be performing that on my own from here on out. My local dealer, who I've used since they opened, decided to jack their prices up on me. They used to give me a deal at 3 changes for $100. Now, it's $98 per oil change! I can do my own work, it was just more effective if they did it for me. They always treated me good and commented on how well my truck was doing. Now, they didn't even address the CEL, or the water pump leak that was showing.

As for this week - I get to change the water pump and the oil pressure sensor. Order the V6 E-fan as well to try that out.

Let my son borrow my 3500 this past weekend so he and 3 of his friends could all go to his airsoft tournament, no way all their stuff could fit in his Colorado. He brought it back clean and with a full tank of gas :waytogo:

Changed out my water pump last night. Put the V6 E-fan in and topped off the coolant. I let the truck run for a while and get up to temp with the radiator open to work any air out of the system and to verify that the fan would kick on (it did). Once I felt like I got all of the air out, I went for a short drive - maybe 2 miles. Temps started creeping up on me again. Parked the truck and shut it off and went to bed - it was late - assuming there was still air in the system.

Before leaving for work, I topped off the radiator with some more coolant. Drive to work (about 23 minutes) and the temps still got high on me. The fan was kicking on, but I still got temps of up to 250F, enough to get a warning. Then, they started dropping down to about 234-236F. I'm assuming there is still air in the system, I'll check again in a little bit after the engine cools off. Any thoughts?

Replaced my thermostat (should've done this the first time). Temps are all good now.

Removed the middle sets of grill shutters. I left the top and bottom slats to keep the codes from popping up.

Added the V6 E-fan conversion.
