I cut out the “blank” just above the cabin blower-motor and added a cabin-air-filter.

I’m not sure how that’s going to actually benefit, however, as this truck has operated for ten years without, …and I have no idea how…or if…I should bother to clean out the ducts and blower-cage. (I’m thinking to just leave it alone…and hopefully enjoy the “lack” of unfiltered air for the future.)

My wife’s car (a Toyota Sienna) has benefitted from a cabin air filter. It’s kept the mice out of the blower…. Twice…. in the past two years:

Towed the camper up to the Poconos last week for our end of the year trip with all the family (4 campers and 1 cabin) and this weekend putting a new rear bumper on. Was creased from original owner, but not horrible and someone hit the same spot while parked somewhere (probably work) and pushed it out and up pretty bad. Bought a hooke road steel bumper. Might get the matching front over the winter since all the clearcoat is peeling off.

Unfortunately, I flattened "squirrely", like full body length... it was quick and painless for him...
Did he ever pop though under my big Michelin!

No way to avoid or stop... traffic behind and in the oncoming lane, and a slim shoulder with a ditch is not an option!

My Uncle taught me the "above or below the bumper" way to drive when critters are in your path.

As much as it sucks, sometimes it's just unavoidable. When I came of driving age we lived around a lake and whenever it rained heavily, the road would just be swarmed by frogs. The only viable option was to just keep going straight, the other options were the ditch on one side, or roll down the bank into the lake on the other.

It does suck as I dislike hurting animals in any way, and yes, unavoidable.
At least it was below the bumper, and quick.

I recall one time decades ago when me and my Uncle were heading up to Barry's Bay (Ottawa Valley Region) in the dark of night and in the early winter when it was super cold but clear night sky with stars and the moon and a dry road.

These are typically winding 2-lane roads and seeing past curve bends just isn't easy.

We were zipping along in his Chevy 3/4 ton and he slammed on the brakes after rounding a bend in the road and skidded to a stop as there was a huge cow moose staring right at us in the middle of the road!

Her breath was just pouring our of her nostrils into the cold night air, and she didn't flinch or take her eyes off us at all. I recall this vividly to this day as we were mere feet from slamming into her.

After honking the horn several times and my Uncle screaming out the window at her she finally walked off into the brush.

That's an "above the bumper" critter situation that one tries very hard not to hit ;)

I've never experienced a driving situation like again and I hope I never do, especially with my daughter in my truck!

So I searched the forum for a thread like this and didn't find anything. I figured it would be fun to have a thread that everyone can watch what everyone is doing each week.

This week I put on Steelcraft nerf bars, and right now I'm getting the permaplating put on the truck. This way it gets a real good bath.

I did the back seat fold-down hack. It was a piece of cake and offers a bit more storage and easier access to existing storage of items stuffed far back under the seat cushions.

I actually hit three different deer with three different demo's when I was the service mgr at a Ford\Lincoln dealership. Destroyed a 1988 Lincoln Mark VII LSC, a '88 T-Bird Turbo Coupe and a '89 supercharged Cougar XR7 within a 3-month span. The guys in the shop got me a "The Deer Hunter" license plate for the front. I still have it hanging in the garage. LOL

Speaking of hitting animals…. a dozen years ago I was pulling the boat back from a fishing-trip on Choke Canyon …. it was late at night and we were heading North on the two-lane side of the divided highway (I-37)…. about half-way between Corpus Christi and San Antonio….
We were on the right-lane in pitch-dark doing about 70 mph…. my buddy Bob was almost asleep in the passenger-side….
… Out of Pure Boredom…. I decided to change lanes and move to the left lane… No reason whatsoever other than I was tired of the right-lane.

Suddenly…. a half dozen HUGE, BLACK, WILD HOGS FLASHED-BY in the right-lane I”d JUST VACATED!

There was simply no explanation for my choice to change lanes….other than a “Guardian Angel”…??

Normally it's the Mustang's that get into troubles..lol

It was a sign from the automotive gods telling you MOPAR was the only route to go!

The only mustang I ever drove was my '69 Mach I, only had that for about a year though, sold it and bought my "Cuda. I hated what the 3rd gen mustangs were in the 80's, early 90's

Need to add - I will admit they were better than Farrah Fawcett's ride - LOL

Got the Hooke Road bumper installed yesterday. Pretty heavy duty (definitely heavier than stock). Install was pretty easy only took me about an hour to take my old bunper off including disconnecting trailer plug, plate light connectors and airbag valves. Transferred everything over and drilled new holes for airbag valves. Only thing not hooked up yet are the extra lights in the bumper. I'm going to wire them to my reverse lights, just didn't get to it yet. That'll be relatively quick too. Pretty happy with the bumper and like the Chevy style corner steps. Only thing I don't love is that since the bunper sticks out further the exhaust tips aren't out to the end of the bumper cutouts. They're about 2 inches back. I'll need longer tips if i want them out to the edge of the bumper. 1000003500.jpg

I installed my new fender flares, added jack-o-lantern candy buckets over my ditch lights, mounted my Auxbean 8 gang controller, and because of ALL that fun, a thermastat and housing.
How do you like the switch panel? i was looking at getting one for my lights as well.
