2019 RAM 1500 Classic - I see a lot of conversations here where folks mention what gear they are in various situations. Driving in "D".........how do you know what gear you are in? Is it displayed somewhere? I know the +/_ selector will limit the top gear but how do you know what gear you are in at any particular time? Just curious if I am missing something in my display. TIA

Not sure on Classic Display, on premium evic: Use manual, put limiter gear set to say 8: Look to right of "D", shows current gear, if manual set, look to second right of "D", displays Manual Gear set. Also displays current gear even with manual not being used. But I have a 5th Gen DT truck, not 4th Gen Classic.

You have to go into U connect, Screen Setup, Driver Selectable Menu's: Favorite Menu's, Current Gear, and enable Gear Display: Default set to OFF< U have to Enable.disp.JPG

On your classic if you have the upgraded dash it'll work like TB described. Set the manual limiter to 8 and you'll see what gear your in right next to the D. I don't know if it works similar for the base dash. My last Ram ('14) had that dash but I don't remember if the numbers showed. I think they did but I can't say for sure.

Press down gear and it will show gear you are in then press up or it will not go to a higher gear

The ZF can change gears a quick as 300ms it maybe comprehensive as to what gear you are in at any give moment during acceleration or deceleration but for steady lower speeds using the steering wheel controls as bm02tj suggest is the way.
Press down gear and it will show gear you are in then press up or it will not go to a higher gear
except if the transmission and wheel speed sensors prevent catastrophic failure as a fail-safe and over ride the manual command
