What is this?

I just got my new 2014 1500 sport crew cab. There are some kind of weights mounted to the outside frame rail under the front doors on each side. Can anyone tell me what they are or why they are there? The only thing I can guess is some type of electrolysis device, like the zincs on a boat. However they seem to be mounted to a bracket with a rubber isolator so that idea is out. I took pics but I'm not sure how to attach them.

They also are a safety device. Is all your wheels fell off at the same time while going down the road you go into "skate board" mode. Just lean in the cab to turn.
