Howdy, new RAM Tungsten owner. I cannot understand what my mpg calculation is showing. It shows 10.1 mpg, if that were the case, I would be totally OUT OF GAS! Is it because the vehicle is new, or what. Ain't no way it is that low. If it is, I want my money back, 10 mph????

Give it time. As long as you aren't lead-footing it everywhere, it should even out. One of my co-workers bought a new F150 and he was getting 8 mpg actal mileage. He took it back to the dealer and they said it would improve. It took a couple of weeks, but it went to normal - 18 - 20 mpg.

What does the MPG in the EVIC say after you hit the reset button while cruising at a steady speed. The EVIC is most accurate at a steady cruise after hitting the reset button.

My recommendation to my customers with new trucks is to drive the truck on the highway for about 30-40 miles. Get up to a steady cruise speed and hit the reset button and continue driving and let the MPG calculator settle. Then see what it says.

MPG fluctuations can be based on many conditions such as heavy breaking, weather, driving habits, road conditions, poor maintenance, improper tire balance, and numerous factors. What year is your Tungsten?

Hate to be that guy, but I believe you meant "heavy braking". Big difference between that and heavy breakage, although that too can probably cause MPG fluctuations. :Big Laugh:

To the OP, as others said, give it a bit of time. When I bought my 2023 TRX new, I saw single digit MPG for a few hundred miles (cannot recall exact mileages), then it leveled off at 10-11 around town, depending on the season. According to most TRX owners, double digits at all for city MPG is fantastic in those trucks.

My Tungsten currently gets about 14.5 MPG in town. On the way home with it (bought it used with 17k on the clock), doing mostly state highways in Minnesota before hitting the interstate (60 MPH to 70 MPH speed limits), I was over 20 MPG. Of course, once I hit interstate and started doing over 70, MPG went down, especially once I got closer to home. Speed limit on South Dakota's interstates is 80. But I still see 17+ at that speed, as long as there isn't a strong wind against me and as long as I am not driving like a jack-wagon.
