What made you buy a gasser instead of a diesel? (Or Vice Versa)

You either have a gasser or a diesel. But why did you choose the one that you did?

I'm just curious, I am not being a proponent of either engine. I know that each engine has it's pro's and con's.

Don't really need a diesel and the ride is better on the 1500s.

I was strongly considering a diesel just for the fun of tuning it, but I have no need for a diesel truck. Never pull anything and seemed like a waste to have just for my 5 mile commute to work

Cost. Didn't feel like spending close to or over $50,000 for a diesel lonestar. However I would love to pick up a 04-07 5.9 diesel some day

I don't tow large loads so I don't need to torque.

The HEMI does just fine for what I need to haul or tow.

Well my baby is a street queen with very minimal offroading. The dealer I bought it from asked if I'd like them to install a hitch for cheap but I graciously said no because I don't own a trailer and didn't need one. Most importantly, diesel wasn't an option at the used car factory I got my truck from.

I traded my diesel (97 12v ctd 5 spd 3500 4x4) in for a Silverado gasser, and then 2 yrs later when GM wouldn't stand behind their product, traded that in on what I have now.

I have no need for a diesel, and don't feel like paying the extra costs of owning it.

I have had gas and diesel. Love diesel more as you can add soooo much more power to them than a gas truck.

Hauling our equipment and our animals
And now the ease of having a fuel tank at home (4 diesel trucks and 3 different machines that run in diesel)

I was beginning to push my 2010 1500 to the limits with some of the stuff I was towing/hauling - the HEMI had all the power I needed but wanted to step up to the 2500 suspension (the soft ride on the 1500 is better when it's empty).

I probably could've gotten away with keeping the 1500, but I missed my old 2nd Gen 1500 that ran rough and required user intervention to increase/decrease gears.

If I could've gotten a Hemi PW with a manual transmission - I would've done it - but I wanted to shift my own gears. That's the bottom line.

Manual trans is another reason, I hate hauling where I live with automatics

That manual intervention thing was starting to get to my old knees too.......especially with the traffic around here.

I tow animals and equipment, toys, and haul wood and rocks and other things, i use my truck to haul and tow and take to work every once a while 25 miles away, 50 round trip or to the farm 50 miles 1 way 100 miles round trip. I drive a dinky toyota car for in town driving.
So for me a diesel makes sense.
if your going to be pulling a 2 place and DDing i would honestly get a gas.
