What makes the Remote key pod communicate with the truck?

So, deaf as a rock without hearing aids, stripping down for the morning shower somehow triggered the truck alarm. No windows, and steel siding on the house and windows on the garage, steel siding as well - maybe 25 feet between. I could hear the alarm with bare ears and figured out what it was to shut it off. What signal got through a windowless, metal sheathed wall?

It's a 433mhz radio signal.

Mine has about a 50 yard range in the open, outside.

It has no problem remote starting my truck from anywhere in the house when the truck is parked in outside about 60 feet away from where I'm sitting on the couch, through about 4 walls.
