so got a brand new corsa cat back for free and want to keep the upgrades rolling. So its shorty headers, ported throttle body not sure with one or worth it, intake tube not sold on intakes as a whole right now or something someone else has done. Programer is not until all supporting mods are done.

oh might order a 180t right now as well

Best bang for your buck will be the tuner, so I would start with that first. Hemifever's custom tuning is good for as long as you own the truck, so updates are free as you continue to modify the truck.

After that, I would look into a set of longtubes instead of shorties. Longtubes will give you 25-30hp as apposed to the 10-12hp that you would get from the shorties.

Shorty headers= only good for increased sound/waste of $$.
Don't expect much from any individual mod, but combined they can be a nice gain.

Yeah man do the tuner first! If you buy from Matt @ Moe's the custom tuning is free too! Sean at Hemifever is great to deal with (custom tuner). He gets back to you within hours with your tune and you'll definitely notice a difference!

What I would do is this.

Save the cat back and acquire parts.

From what Ive seen the best mods are vararam or S&B intake, Ported TB, oil catch can, LT headers and tuner. LT headers are not really easy to do as they are $$ and you have to get a cat less ypipe or get something custom so thats not a real option for many of us.

Since you have the cutback i would acquire the vararam, TB, and oil catch can. Then order the tuner from Matt and get the custom tune for your mods. Install everything and get the full impact of the mods.

But as stated hemi fever will retune your custom tune for mods down the road as long as its the same truck. So getting a custom tune for your truck and then sending him the tune every time you mod is an option. but way less satisfying than doing it all at once.

I think I want to quiet my muffler down (18" jones max flow) so looking at a dynomax catback as i think the 23" muffler will help and gives me no resonators and larger 4" tips.I already have the oil catch can, picked up a used vararam. thinking the cutback and a tuner and Im all done. Besides maybe a V6 Efan and 180 Tstat.

this truck will be seeing offered use down the road so the vararam not really an option.

so with long tubes you need y-pipe and custom cats made?

are cats needed really or could do a bolt in place race pipe and switch when smogs do?

Completely contradicted yourself here.

Why isn't vararam an option if you offroad? It doesn't pull air from down low.

Yes long tubes require a new y-pipe with or without cats depending on your preference or state laws. You could theoretically have a clamped in race pipe but it's what to do with the o2 sensors then. If they're in without cats, CEL, if they're not there at all; CEL

i guess i was mistaken thought the vararam pulled from the valence, ill have to take another look at them.

Cali calls for cats but plenty of ways around it, will running cats cause a decrees in gains?

I plan on a programer but having a few supporting mods will make the wow factor even better.

i really want to do the ported TB and intake first

most guys rave about the vararam/87mm tb combo.

Mixed results with no cats. Some hate the loss of bottom end, some don't notice anything. FWIW they're very loud and don't smell the greatest without cats.
