...when I take my '16 in for the tailgate and cruise control recalls?

I'm going to ask if they can turn on the DRL; is there anything else that I should see if they'll do? A friend tells me a couple of the service techs here are very cooperative.

I'm not sure they will do it. Apparently, there is a tech that'll do it for a few bucks, but it isn't something they advertise. I just didn't know if there are any other "secret" options that can be unlocked.

good luck most shops charge .5-1 hour of labor. most mechanics at a dealer are on commission.

if you were on commission would you want to work for free?

Flat rate. Thats why mechanics invest tens of thousands (if not more if you have your own shop) in tools, so they can do the job the book says should take 4 hfs in 2 and they can legally charge the full 4 hours. Cha Ching.

I was a mechanic back in the '70s, trained in auto technology. I was good at it, still do most of my maint & repairs (and the kids cars and grandsons car). I realized at a young age that I didn't want to be doing that as I got older. Getting burnt on hot manifolds & melting snow dripping down your neck. Not to mention having to deal with customers:eek:.

My dad did not want me following the family's foot steps so I followed the other sides and became a carpenter other wise I would be turning wrenches right now.
Dad did not teach me anything about working on cars untill after I had a different line of work allready..lol
