What size drive shaft? need help please

I have a 2004 quad cab 4x4 1500 shortbox automatic transmission and need to know the size of the rear drive shaft so I can look for a replacement. I had the truck towed to a local dealer and they want over $900 for a new drive shaft. I know I can get one way cheaper but I can not measure the original drive shaft to get a replacement myself. I have tried searching google but can't seam to find anything other then places to buy a new drive shaft. If anyone can help me out or show me a link to figuring out what drive shaft I need that would be much appreciated.
