Ok. I bought a used 05 quad 4x4 1500 with 107k miles for $5700 a few weeks ago. I decided I liked it so much that I want a brand new truck. I am so indecisive its not funny. At first I didn't want payments but made a mistake of going to look and drive new trucks. I went to a couple dealers . I don't know jack #$@! about making deals/invoices all that BS. So one truck I was looking at was $40440 for a standard cab 8 ft. bed long horn loaded to the max (bucket seats,20inch wheels, luxury group, protection group, comfort group, remote start group, uconnect 8.4an, and back up camera plus a couple other little things. came to 40440. He took off ONLY $2000 for rebates but is offering me $9000 for my truck. I know it makes it look good. My truck is in pretty shabby shape and could use some work. the kbb is around 9 or 10k I think. What should I pay for the truck. Im in upstate NY.I'm not even sure if I want another quad cab. I would like an 8ft bed but also want a quad cab. I know you cant have it all unless you get a titanI'm even hung up on what color I want. I do know I want that kind of package (loaded big horn. don't care about leather seats)Black is awesome new but ugly when dirty. I was thinking the dark blue or cherry red.. So what do you guys think? Should I wait for more discounts? Please help. Thanks a million

You will sell your truck on craigslist easier then eating pie, trucks in that price range sell like hotcakes, just make sure you take cash and offer to take guy to dmv to insure title change. Trade ins muck up your deal, it is only advisable if you have a high value car that you can't sell. Under 8 grand trucks should never be traded, some dude on craigslist will **** a ******* to buy a truck like that with only 100k miles.

I have bought 2 Rams, both nearly 10k off invoice, Basically, that guy is giving you next to nothing for your truck. At a very minimum you should get 7k off invoice if you pay cash or loan, but I usually get even more. Long horn has 4 grand between the dealers invoice and the msrp. the D invoice itself is padded with ad dollars any generally every dodge should sell you the car for dealers invoice, at worst you should pay 300 over dealers invoice (not MSRP), I think that is the costco deal. This also means you get the rebate as well. So worst worst worst case you should pay 5700 dollars UNDER what the msrp says. That is if it is a desirable model and color that is fresh of the hauler and they have no other long horns in stock.

My latest ram was a 4x4 hemi and the msrp was 34k and I bought it for 24k. It was end of year pricing and they should still have some around. If not wait until next year when the end of year comes back. Usually oct/nov but I bet they make another push on new years day.

As for colors since u asked, the only colors I get excited about is OD green (not available) and Maximum Steel Metal, I like the prarie, copper, and browns as well, and will settle for black or white. That gold black is killer too, forgot about that one. I ended up with blue just because it was 10 grand off, but I don't prefer it. Reds look great but don't suit me. I like to blend in not stand out.

However, if I had advice to give, drive your truck into the ground first. Man it is a nice feeling to have a truck you love and no payment, just my 2 penny's on that. If you get 2 years and no major repairs, it paid for itself. Every year past that is gravy man, and we all love gravy?

Was just about to say: Just went on truecars.com for my area and it said fair price is $4159 below msrp for the single cab and $5435 below msrp for the quad. Did I answer my own question? Does ny just suck? Seens like some people got great deals $10k below msrp on a search I did.
