just got the po442(med. evap leak).i'm sure alot of you have had it .Since it can be caused by several things starting with the gas cap .I would appreciate it if you could tell me what finally fixed your problem.I have been reading all that i can on how the system works and the common problems but it would be nice to know how you guys fixed the problem or where your leak was.

I’ve had that code for the last 200k miles or so...haven’t figured it out yet but hasn’t affected drivability. Just makes smog checks annoying. Going to pull bed this winter to change fuel pump and have a good look around.

Also “gas cap” warning light has been coming on for last 75k or so...am guessing they’re related. Gas cap isn’t the problem

Gotta have the tank smoked to find the leak... not sure what that costs. If I pull a battery cable it stays off for a few days. Clear it with scanner only a day. I’d like the CEL to be off in case a real situation comes up. I’ll be having it smoked as soon as I can.

I have that planned for last resort.Currently looking into making my own smoke machine.Quite a few videos out there on how to do it.I recently replaced my purge valve as it tested bad (was not holding vac.).I figured that was it but the same code came back. Now the weather is getting ****** and I don't have use of a garage. My only cocern other than having the mil on is that I will have to rectify this before I am due for insp.I have read that you are allowed 1 monitor not ready but I don't know if that pertains to nys.
