Help me out here, what does that thing do? I don't have it on my truck. Guessing you have a higher trim level truck.

I tried the googs and I see why you had to post it here. Not easy to find information about it.

Looks like the headlight angle adjustment.

Never saw that here in the US. OP is from Australia so that makes sense.

The idea is if you toss enough weight in the back, it will make the truck squat, shooting the headlights up and blinding oncoming traffic

Just another typical example of government overreach
The government needs to start reaching right up people's asses when it comes to lighting laws. I'm tired of getting my retinas annihilated by some **** with his **** tier headlights.

I had a 5 inch lifted jeep and still had to deal with trucks blinding the **** out of me.

It is an Australian requirement that the dial provide vertical headlamp adjustment. There are a few discussions about it on Facebook.

I would pay to have that feature.

I avoid picking up a cord of wood after dark, especially after upgrading to LED headlights.
Now that I think of it, if we ever use my truck for a North Florida Cave diving trip, I would have to tweak the headlight position after loading.

I wouldn't want to drive about 20 hours (each way) through the eastern US, blinding oncoming traffic.

gees...i was going to guess pedal adjustment, (another useless feature), however, i never heard of a headlight adjuster. do they have little motors on them that move them up or down? How exactly do they work? Or, was that a joke?

Headlight beam height adjustment switch. If yours is connected/working: drive up to a wall/garage door etc. Best at night. Turn on Lights. Move that switch. If connected it should adjust beam of lights down a lil bit. Used when vehicle loaded down changing front end height. URL below to see, but do not go into the weeds on it, just to show U, I could not find exact RAM part listing, just not gonna spend that much time on it.

Just FYI, on my 2006 Honda Gold Wing I have the same type of control to adjust where headlight beams aim depending upon load on Bike:
ie., riding 1 UP or 2 UP. Especially riding 2 up with a lot of loaded stuff on trunk/bags etc.,.

i see quite a few vehicles (mostly foreign) have that.

another thing to break i guess.
YUP. heck, my 74 Eurospec Marcedes I had in Europe, had electric load stabilization and that was a 74. Weird to hear the back end go up/down at highway speeds, hee hee.

I had a 89 citroen BX once with stock air suspension

Once you hit highway speed it automatically lowered itself a few inches to reduce drag

Pretty cool, but on a cold winters day it would take dang near forever to get up out of the weeds

My wife's 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse has factory projector headlamps with HID bulbs. She also has that adjustment. We leave it on high all the time because the highest level isn't that high and not at all blinding to other traffic.

USA model.

Tried the garage wall and didnt see any change. Spoke to another dealer today who had better knowledge. They said the adjustment is very small and will be mostly noticable on the open road so going to try it out when im able. I'll report back.

I agree, pedal adjustment, steering wheel tilt, and telecsoping are worthless once set up. The same with the power seat. Once I found my comfort settings, I've never adjusted them again. I guess these adjustments have value when more than one person drives your truck, but I don't like anyone, including the wife. driving my truck.

Before I retired, I worked on a team implementing auto-leveling headlamps. This was on the Ford Licolns and was meeting a requirement for the Chinese market. The headlamp leveling was determined by the vehicle's position. Adding weight to the trunk or the back seat would cause the headlamps to respond and relevel. It was done by motors running a worm screw.

I was kind of hopeful and, from listening to the chatter among the Ford employees, looking forward to seeing auto-leveling headlamps installed in all vehicles (this was back in 2016). Doesn't look like that happened. Something needs to be done because people modifying their headlights is out of control, at least in my area. It is getting to the point where sunglasses are becoming a requirement for nighttime driving.
