hey guys/gals. I'm new so forgive me if this has been asked 50 times. I have a 2010 ram 1500. I bought used 20 inch rims for "a ram" . actually they were for a f150 and the guy blocked/deleted me off facebook. anyways i bought new tires and mounted them on the rims. now they don't fit. should i get adapters or will they eat up my bearings/ball joints/shocks? i have a 2 inch level in the truck and the new tires are 35x12.5x20 duratracs. the rims are a +24 offset so should i get 1.5 inch adapters? i bought new flares and i want the tires to fill them nicely. thanks lads

Don't use adaptors, ever.
A friend of mine was killed a few years ago when a wheel adaptor broke and the wheel bounced across the highway and hit his windshield and came through and....Boom!

Dead.

I have 1.5 on mines you can always get the spacer with the pattern of your rims and you have to make sure it’s hubcentric

So sorry for your loss Black W900. Like anything else, wheel adaptors/spacers can be good or bad. There is nothing wrong with a set of quality, hub centric wheel adaptors if they are installed properly. I have a set of 1.5 inch spacers on our JKU and they are commonly used by Jeep owner who wish to keep their OEM wheels and need the increased stance to fit taller, wider tires. Just don't buy a set of cheap, no name adaptors off Ebay or Amazon and make sure they are installed properly (torqued to spec and brake retaining clips removed).

No matter how you slice it adapters/spacers are a band-aid to make up for the fact that your wheels do not have the right offset.

I am not of fan of band-aid solutions. IMO sell the wheels and get ones that fit your needs.

Don’t a lot of duallys come with factory installed spacers?

If they are properly designed (hub centric for hub centric hubs) and are wide enough to bolt directly to the hub with studs for the wheels, they are no different than putting wider wheels on.

This assumes properly torqued lug nuts on the spacers and the wheels.

In fact most duallys have a big spacer on the front axle. Not sure about Ford's newer wide boy axle option but I know for fact that all 2nd dodge duallys had a big spacer on the front.

Absolutely nothing wrong with a set of properly installed spacers. Careless installation causes accidents, not the spacers.

I'm going to second the adapter - spacer movement when used with quality parts. I'm in the wheel and tire industry and I have seen spacers, hub-centric adapters us correctly for thousands of miles without issue on all makes and models of vehicles. I have also seen failure from cheap adapters that were never R&D'd or stress tested. That being said, use your head and do your research.
