OK. I give. I was doing some troubleshooting under the hood of my 2002 Ram 1500 4.7 and noticed that the hose from the PCV valve isn't connected to anything and I can't for the life of me find where it goes. A little help, please.:banghead:

if its the one mounted to the oil filler cap it runs down the passenger side of the engine beside the fuel rail to the back of the intake.

Yes, it's attached to the oil filler but I can't find where to attach the other end. I looked from the top and saw nothing I could reach from there. So I went under the truck and still no luck. But I did see oil all over the place. I'll look again tomorrow when it's daylight. I usually work on the truck at night since it's so damned hot down here in Florida. But thanks. I'll find it one way or another.

Well knock me down with a french fry. I finally figured out why I can't find it. Last year I had a new intake put on and it's different than the original. Check out the pictures for todays mind exercise.

So, after giving up on her sister, I did a little feeling around with the new girl only to find what I think is the outlet with something else attached. Again, check the picture. I think that thing with the ring on the end is what's attached thus the hose coming off of the PCV valve was just left hanging. Is that possible? Should I do something different to the PCV hose? Does the thing with the ring serve a purpose? My head hurts.

I’m not familiar with the pcv system on these trucks but the thing with the ring looks like a clutch alignment tool. I would try to pull it and see if your hose would go into that hole.
Maybe if that is plugging a hole in the intake, the hoses came loose and caused a vacuum leak and someone stuck the alignment tool in the hole to stop the leak.

Sorry everyone, not laughing at you, laughing with you. That is hilarious. That thing with the ring on it. I looked at that picture and was like, I've seen that before.....what is that????? Had to read @Runaround's post before it clicked even though I have 3-4 in my garage.

Glad this one got solved. Too funny.

Well, here's one for the books. As I mentioned before, I had some work done to the truck in July of last year and they had to change out the intake. Yep, the one they put on has the PCV valve hose input on the opposite side as the original. For some reason they decided not to hook up the PCV hose. They just left it hanging and it wasn't until now that I found it. Not to be outdone, they decided to plug up the intake input. A piece of rubber hose was jammed on to it and to plug up the other end of the hose they shoved in the ring thing shown in the pictures above. And what exactly is that ring thing? It's a CLUTCH ALIGNMENT TOOL. Holy Moly and WTF?! The place I took it to was recommended to me by a mechanic from the YOURMECHANIC website. He said that he was unable to do the work mobilely (is that a word). So how's that for a truck load of bovine hooey? No wonder the truck's been driving me crazy the past year.

I had a feeling someone would recognize it sooner or later.

BTW: The CAT has been removed and the PCV hose has been connected to the proper intake input. Boy, I sure hope things improve. Hard to believe I've been driving around for a year with this crazy situation.:badger_1::console:
