So next weekend I will be installing my new pacesetter longtube my question is which header bolts should I run. How are the ones that come with headers? And I plan on changing my cam and heads in the next few months so I don't know if that's something to take into consideration. Thanks

I just checked mine this past weekend and none had come loose. I used grade 8s with the clips. I don't know about the ones that came with my headers, didn't use them.

I heard those where the best I'm just wondering are they gonna be a pain to take off when I switch my heads and cam?

I actually had to remove them to replace my gaskets to OEM gaskets bc I bought the remflex brand and they were too thick and my headers rubbed on my steering shaft. All it takes is a pair of needle nose pliers and some picks.

I used grade 8 bolts with lock washers and in 2.5 years and 7k on the motor none have backed out any. You can run the 6.1 exhaust bolts also with the locking compund from the factory. I agree the Stage 8's are awesome.... but the keepers are a royal pain in the ass and make for a long day.

Either way stage 8 or grade 8 automotive bolts with lock washers and you're good to go. The stage 8 are pretty pricey but thats what i chose.

Yea that's the ones I wanted to go with I just don't want to spend half a day taking them back off in a few months I've never felt with them so I don't know how hard they are to remove

Honestly some can be a pain. If your just replacing the bolts use grade 8 bolts with locking washers. If you plan to instsll headers then you can opt to use the stage 8 bolts or reguular grade 8 bolts.

Since the heads are right around the corner, I would just use the supplied Pacesetter bolts. Then you can use the Stage 8 bolts when you throw the heads on there. You should be able to mount the headers onto the heads and install them as a complete unit. This will make setting up the locking clips much easier than trying to do it on your back under the truck.

That actually sounds like a good plan bc some of the c clips can be a pain when laying on your back trying to squeeze your arm and hand in tight places.

Agree, Definately use the ones that came with the kit for sure if changing them out for a head swap later, heck use the gaskets too then upgrade to mopar ones later. But like post 7 said (Kenneth) the Mopar ones are easy to install as the bolt head is 10mm and you can use a stubby wrench or 1/4 ratchet with either short or deep socket in tight places (You may not get the wrench closed end in there if the bolt head is too big and close to the tubing. or if you wear an XL Glove size (Man Hands). They Will not back off and at the price and 12 per bag (2 Required) you`ll have extras. I found them especially handy when doing my LX which can only be accessed by the bottum and is without the removable inner fender or take off the wheel access like on the Trucks. So impressed that on last Header maintenance on the truck I replaced them all with the 6.1 Jobbies.

The Others are a great concept and real fancy but IMO not needed as the SRT Engineers Got it right!

I just put the Pacesetter Longtube headers on my 5.7L Hemi yesterday. I used the Stage 8 Locking bolts. I don't plan on doing any mods soon that I'll have to remove the headers so I want them to stay put.

Unless Pacesetter changed the quality of their header gaskets, I would recommend using the OEM gaskets for install.

Have on hand a metal step bit or burr to enlongate the front passender side header hole also. Seems like most of them need to be done on the pacesetters. If you have a buddy helping easiest way is to toss them on is have one under the truck and another ontop sliding it down to you. You should be able to reach up from the bottom and get all of the bottom bolts pretty easy but with your lift you might have to stretch alill.
