When installing aftermarket LED bulbs in quad reflector headlights, should both the high and low beams be clocked at the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock position?

Ok thanks, just wanted to make sure because I bought these bulbs:

In their default settings, they fit perfectly. The low beams are clocked at 9 and 3; the high beams are clocked at 12 and 6. When I adjust the high beams to 9 and 3, they block the ability to install the dust covers.

I'll order different bulbs.

You may need a higher profile dust cover for the bulb to fit correctly. There are several brands out there, just do a search on the interweb and you should find them. Not the cheapest, but they are available.

THESE are the low profile ones.

How is the light spread with the high beams clocked to 12 & 6?

AFAIK, the purpose of clocking to 9 & 3 is primarily for the low beams to contain annoying oncoming traffic.

If the light dispersion provides descent illumination of the roadway from the driver's perspective, and the high beams are never used while following or with oncoming traffic, who cares where they're clocked?

I have Fahren low beams clocked to 9 & 3 and older Auxito bulbs that weren't adjustable.
IIRC, one is 5 & 11 and the other is 7 & 1. Both sets of LED bulbs are awesome.

That's a great set of LED bulbs similar to the first set I bought. I donated the H11s to a friend after discovering the projector housings on my truck use 4 9005s.

The Fahren description used to have a picture indicating the actual measurement size of the bulb package but for some odd reason, they no longer provide that detail.

This is from an older Fahren advert on Amazon.

Yep, I read all of your posts about them before deciding which ones to go with. My projectors are 9005 and 9012. I was really worried about the whole 2015 drama with LED's, but these bulbs and the AlfaOBD tweaks I've had ZERO issues. Thank you to all your info on them!

You're most welcome, glad I could help with your successful upgrade.

Did you have to set the headlights to HID with AlfaOBD or was the LED setting sufficient?

I'm still pleased as can be with the Fahren bulbs and the after-sales support from the manufacturer has been just short of spectacular.

Yeah they were fine, but I really didn't spend any time analyzing the high beam light spread. So I'm curious if I notice a difference with whatever I get next.

If you have the time and interest to R&R bulbs in your Ram, have at it and report your findings here. I monkeyed around briefly with mine and after a few R&R sessions, I can't be bothered anymore.

There are too many other places to spend my retirement years.

BTW, you might be interested to know, that both times I bought Fahren LED bulbs, they have propositioned me to be a tester and get free lights to test and review.

With my former truck, a Tundra, I could stand on a short ladder, contort my arm/wrist and change bulbs in about 2 minutes whereas with the Ram 45-90 minutes depending on how slowly and carefully I'm moving.

I'm confident I'm slower than many others but I grew up working on cars with metal fabricated parts, plastic is just too delicate for my liking so, I move slowly.

Cool. My interest is having the bulbs clocked correctly, so I swapped them out for these:

I believe the high beam light spread is better. Both high and low beams are quite an improvement over the factory halogens.

Thanks to all that responded.

I just set them straight to HID after reading through all the posts on the 15's. Didn't wanna take any chances.
