Okay. I have tried two different harnesses with module to add remote start to my 2013 Ram Express.

First one I got from Doug on Ebay. Had the XPress something module. Would not work.

Second harness is Flash Logic.

Apparently with the OEM stick Key the module should program, my Flashlogic had the wrong firmware so it did not work.

But with the correct firmware it should.

And then I should have remote start using the OEM stick key. But once the lock button is pressed three times to start the truck the OEM stick key becomes in-op. Meaning I can then not use it to unlock the doors. I could pull the spare key out of the remote to manually unlock the door, but who wants to do that.

So Flashlogic sells RF remotes to use in conjunction with the OEM stick key. Which means I would be carrying two key FOBs. Not a huge deal but rather prefer carrying one. Well I could keep the OEM stick key in the truck and just put the key in the ignition when I get in each time.

Which is what I will probably do.

Anyway I am trying to decide which after market remote key fob to use.

Has anyone used Flashlogic FLRF1, 2 or 4?

The other one comes with the Viper kit 4105n or 4205.

Thanks.

Why not just go oem? You can find them for around $200 and to save money do 90% of the install yourself and just have the dealer add the sales code and program the new keys

I told myself the same thing. But I am in Savannah Ga. I typically try to be open minded and characterize anything harshly for no reason. But the truth is this area is full of dip *****. Getting anything just a little bit technical done around here is painful. Just got a new tire on the truck, old one had a bolt in it. Tech and I agreed on what type of tire he was putting on but he still put on the wrong tire. People expectations here are low.

Thats weird that you cant use it with the Flash logic once the truck starts. I have a FLRSCH4 (Firmware RS-CH4) installed on my 2012 Express and it works fine. Installed in less then 10 mins. Press lock 3 times and it starts. I can still unlock the doors remotely with the factory key fob when im ready to get in.

Not sure what (if anything) changed from 12 to 13 other than push start, but I would call them...i would think it should work for you too unless they sent you the wrong model, if you are just wanting the remote start.

On their site if you search by vehicle use 2012 tip start 8 cyl model and when the page comes up it says the CH4 is good for years 2007-2015. Thats the one i have and have had no problems.
