I've been thinking about selling one of my trucks. I don't really need two, plus the wife has her car which she barely drives.

2005 SLT Quad cab: Pros: No cylinder deactivation, less complexity, easier to work on. Cons: Mileage (176k), age (>20 years), parts availability, not worth as much.

2018 Sport Crew cab: Pros: Newer, less mileage (<55k), roomier back seat, navigation, worth a lot more. Cons: Cylinder deactivation, more technology, more complexity.

Sell the '05.

I had an '02 SLT RC with a 4.7 and 218k miles that I recently totaled. Ins. valued at $3800.

I'm thinking yours is worth a fair bit north of that.

Keep the '18.. more potential longevity and even though more "complex" the repairs should be cheaper as parts aren't as scarce.

Thanks all for the replies. The wife told me to sell the '18 and keep the '05. The only reason I bought the '18 was when the '05 eventually quits, I'll have the '18 as a back-up. I honestly didn't think the '05 would last this long, but I take good care of it.

Kinda sounds like you made your mind up already. Why sell the one you got as a replacement for the one you thought would not have lasted already.
