White smoke on start up?? HELP!!!!!

Ok guys this is weirding me out.... I go and crank my truck up this morning and it was just pouring white smoke out the exhaust!!!!! But it didn't smell like oil.... It wasn't a bluish smoke either..... It stopped after Watever it was stopped burning.... It doesn't do it while driving just after the truck sits and kools off...... Wat could it be!!!!?????!!!! HELP!!!!!

Mine does that when it's cold...however, I'm pretty sure it was in the 80's where you are Robb.

I've always just associated mine to the temperature.

Have you noticed any leaks? I have heard that it could be from antifreeze.

No haven't noticed any, my level in the resivour hasn't gone down any either... I don't even know were to start with diagnosing this problem

Nope all temps are fine. My bullydog has an alarm chime if the engine temp gets higher than 215 degrees.

I had white smoke on start ups. My deal was that I had a cracked head and antifreeze was leaking into the engine. There was very little white smoke in the beginning. It progressively got worse and after about 1year and bigger puffs of white smoke and a couple gallons of antifreeze I had the head replaced. 156k miles and still running good.

yikes. Yeah it sounds like a leaking head gasket or cracked head man.... you might want to have a pressure test done on your truck.....

Is it happening on every start up or just first start up after sitting overnight? Also check the oil to see if its a brownish color.

You are describing a symptom of blown out head gasket or warped/otherwise damaged cyl head. The reservoir wont go down when this is the case because the system can no longer draw a vacuum. Coolant will disappear from the radiator and the reservoir will look ok.

Does sound like a cracked head or something of the like. My dad's van had that but it poured out white smoke when it was being driven.

Sounds like they have it down to a head gasket or warped head then. I would prep the parts and everything you'll need to change the head gaskets. When you start taking it apart, you'll be able to look more in depth and see if there's a larger problem. Good luck man, and sorry about the smoke!

Ok update. So I go hop in the truck after a 12hr shift, and no smoke!!??? Wat so ever!!! IDK WTF!!!! Now wat do Yall think???

I would still follow the advice for troubleshooting for blown head gasket unless its just early morning condensation due to the colder climate change which is very common on early morning start ups.
