No disrespect to the 5.7 Hemi, but now Ford and GM have 6.2's with big horsepower and torque numbers available in upscale versions of their half ton trucks. GM's direct injection 6.2 for 2014 has 420 HP and 450 torque, which is more than Ram's 2500-only 6.4. Ram needs to step up and offer the 6.4 in the Ram 1500. I've driven a 2014 2500 with the 6.4 and it ran REAL WELL. Noticeably more powerful than the 5.7. I would buy one in a second in the 1500 !

I'd like one, but Ram as usual is behind in the performance dept. :)

the idea of an SRT8 Hemi would be sick. The 6.4L in a 1/2 ton would be really cool as long as its not just in a sport truck only if you will. have it as an option. I bet the 6.4L in a 1500 would probably put out even better numbers compared to a 3/4 ton chassis, due to the significant weight difference.

Anyone can put a 6.4 Hemin in ther 1500 right now. Go to dealer, buy said motor and all necessary parts harnesses etc..... swap motor. I would love one actually, however not looking to pass everything on the road but a gas station.

I remember hearing that the 6.4 is tuned for towing/hauling, not for street performance. So I'm not sure it'd give much advantage over the 5.7.

I'm sure tuners would find a way to fix that though. I'd love to have one in a 1500 with no extra badging like cRaptors. I'd break hearts at every stop light :roflsquared:

Holy old thread!!!

Wait til 5th Gens come out,,, You might see a 5.7 that out-performs the 6.2's mentioned by the OP.
