Why are some rams quicker than others?

Hi everyone,
I have a 2017 ram slt and my friend has a 2012 sport. His is much faster out of the hole. Mine is quite sluggish. Is it a computer thing? Can i do anything to make it better? Thanks

gears and tuners....I have a '12 and previously had an '06...both had 3.92's.
Throttle was much more responsive in the '06 until the '12 was tuned.

I have the 3.55's and I can't break it loose very easy, I drove my friends truck with 3.92's home from the ball park when he had too much to drink, can spin the tires at about 1/2 throttle. Now with the 8 speeds I hear it is less of an advantage, but gears make the truck. If I knew I was gonna hold on to this truck for as long as i'm planning, I would have done a couple things different, 3.92's and a crew cab are two of them, maybe a ram box too.

Yep gears.....I have a 6 speed with 3.55. Absolute **** out of the hole and I'm running a Diablo I2 with a Hemi Fever 91 tune and a Pedal Commander.

If I changed my rear end to 3.92 how would it work with the 6 speed and how would it tow???

Technically the ram tow guide says the same, but I seriously disagree with this, and edmunds agrees. How can you have a 2000 pound difference between the 3.21 and either the 3.55's or 3.92's and have no difference between the 3.55 and 3.92? Anyhow, you might not to be legally able to tow more weight, but you will have better control of the load in those shorter rpm's bands, better wear on the transmission as well.

Maybe look at a 4.56?

Ya!!!! I wonder why????? :naughty::naughty: Still hoping you will do a couple passes so we can see what the times look like in everyday terms. Matt's 2011 was running high 11's NA. Would like to see the difference.

I'm curious as well the be honest what it would do in the 1/4. We did the math the other day and estimates are in the low to mid 12s. Which is pretty good for a 5500lb truck.

I'm sure we'll be able to make something work eventually. Your truck is bottle fed isn't it? What does it put down?

This statement may answer the OP's original question:
"Going fast cost money, so just how fast do you wanna go?"
Another factor that we forget sometimes, at least in my opinion, is the skill of the person behind the steering wheel.

It doesn't put down what yours does at 435hp and 455 lb-ft,but it does run 12.50's at Castrol on a 75 shot, lol. Mine crosses the scales at 5280lbs full of fuel and no driver, being a regular cab shortbox it's a couple hundred lbs lighter then yours is.I keep trying to make time on a week-end to come down and see you,but between Castrol on Friday nights and work rearing it's head on Saturday and sundays lately,i haven't been able to generate the free time to make the 2 hour drive down to the Bridge. PM me you're phone number Dan ,that way if I get a bit of free time this week-end, i'm going to try to shoot down sometime this week-end.
