Just wanted ask how you 4th Gen folks have these fancy backup sensors in the bumper and cameras in the tailgate and still seem to booger up your bumper? I see 4th Gen's everyday that have beat up rear bumpers from backing into stuff when they have 4 sensors across the bumper.:hmm:

How do you know that someone didn't just run into them? A dent in the bumper doesn't necessarily mean that they backed into something.

Now having said that, you live in Houston. You know how people drive around here. If there were airbags on the outside of the bumper, I bet they would still find a way to put a dent in it.

Mine looks like brand new. But the trucks before this one that didn't have it, they were fine too. Maybe some people shouldn't drive trucks. Do a survey and see how many cc and qc have damaged bumpers.

Yes, but backing into a pole will leave a very distinct dent compared to the corner of someone bumper hitting theirs. Trust me, I can look at a bumper and tell pretty quick when they've been rear ended and when they've backed into something.

It doesn't matter if there is a sensor there or not...This is Houston, and many people on the road should not be on the road. Has nothing to do with what type of vehicle, or whether it has a sensor or back up camera.

I dont know about Huston Texas but here in Dublin Ohio, I see at least 5 teenage girls or grown women everyday texting on their phones while driving their expensive SUVs or Euros. Traffic will be backed up behind them while they drive and text. That scares the hell out of me.

I just know one of these days someone is going to hit me in the rear because their life is so important they have to break the law and text while driving.

Park sense and camera are excellent options, and I use both. That being said, it still doesn't hurt to actually turn and look. That's all I'll say, I don't want to jinx myself! :)

why do 3rd gen folks give a **** about 4th gen folks' rear bumpers?
Just wondering, you Sillygoose. Just trying to figure out if it's incompetence, not paying attention or both.

Doing it with a trailer on is understandable though and having them off because they won't shut up.

OP that is funny. Sure not all of them are back ups. But you do see that a lot.

With these fancy sensors, I personally believe that people forget to look...or misjudge what they hear (beeping) or see (objects are closer than they actually appear).

I love my 4th Gen ram because it doesn't have all of the fancy stuff on it. I might have a small dent that is barely noticeable on the bumper, that's because I slowly bumped into a pillar that was lower than the bed of my truck (backing up with no camera).

I learned my lesson and I always look, and with learning, I have better judgement on how far things are and how close I am when I'm creeping up without all of these sensors.

Coming from a computer expert like me who rely on mobile devies, maintaining computer systems and servers, you would think more technology is better, but in this case, cramming more of these safety devices actually takes away what we learned how to drive...use your eyes, and learn on how far things are.

I to am decent with computers, but I don't rely on the stuff because it's bound to fail at some point. I have a real issue with new stuff coming out that stops you if you come up to fast or swerve to get back in lane. They've already proved that the vehicles can be hacked and taken control over. Tech has destroyed this world and this "country" for sure, I (personally) don't see or have a need for all the tech packed into the new vehicles, but I sure would like some cooled seats for my area.

I see 4th gens some times and very rarely see any with damage to the rear end. I'm calling ********.

Are you in Houston as well? If so what kind of commute do you have? I can't go a 1/4 mile without seeing 4th gens.
