so first time having a ram, noticed that it had the old school long rod antenna and I thought ok maybe its needed because it doesn't have the black fin on the back but it does.

am I able to remove the long wire antenna up front?

That is your AM/FM antenna. You will get no reception if you take it off.

Some of the short stubby antennas cause a whistling noise almost like a "wind whistle" on the right side of the cab. Some do, some don't you just have to give it a try. The reception usually is not as good but if you listen to Sirius or something like that it really doesn't make any difference.

I threw on a 21484766347c26d372d21113e91e491919.jpg" thick antenna and zero wind noise also get decent reception. Sirius is so spotty not sure I'll renew after the year. Anything over 1.5 story building and you loose reception. I was chocked when I read 18's got Sirius guardian but realized it wouldn't matter cause it wouldn't work 80% the time.

I don't think fin antennas are designed for FM/AM. Even in my Audi I have a separate FM/AM antenna, the difference is it is built into the rear glass instead of an actual physical mast.

I believe it is an all-in-one antenna on the 2019's.

Remember that the stock antenna is just a bit taller than the truck for a reason. It hits obstructions before your roof does!

If you're relying solely on the antenna height to determine whether it's safe to drive under an obstacle and not peaking your head out the window to confirm, then you deserve roof damage.

True, just as you shouldn't rely solely on the tailgate camera or a single mirror when backing up. But it's a good early warning to have.

Are you sure it isn't built into the rear glass?
