losemodule

I’m dealing with an issue on my 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 (5.7 Hemi) and could use some advice. My WIN (Wireless Ignition Node) module is completely shot. It's done. I bought a used WIN module from a scrap yard that came with a paired key. After installing it, the truck starts for about two seconds, the security light comes on, and then it shuts off. It seems like the module and key are paired, but my truck’s immobilizer isn’t recognizing them.
I’ve seen people online claim they’ve successfully replaced their WIN module with either used or brand-new modules, and both have worked for them in different situations. Some people buy a brand-new WIN module with a pre-programmed key, and all they have to do is plug in the wiring harness, screw it in, and it just works—even though it’s not specifically tied to their truck.
Meanwhile, others have bought used WIN modules with a key already paired to the module from a different truck, and it worked for them. I’ve tried this, but it hasn’t worked in my case.
My main questions are:
1. Does a used WIN module require programming to work with a different truck’s immobilizer system, even if the module and key are paired?
2. How are people getting new modules that seem to work right out of the box without needing to be paired with the truck’s immobilizer? Is it because the new module and key are pre-programmed together but not vehicle-specific?
I’ve gotten conflicting information from locksmiths, dealers, and online sources. Any advice or insight on this would be greatly appreciated.
