Window tint?

I'll be getting my windows tinted on Monday next week and was going to go with the ceramic tint that's supposed to block 83% of heat coming through, has anyone got the ceramic tint?

Gettin my ceramic tints today! Woot Woot! Also, how much did everyone pay for theirs? There are 3 tiers at 69.99 - 99.99 for just the fronts. And, is there any difference between the tiers?

I paid $125 for ceramic which included both passenger & driver windows.

My quotes have been as high as $800 to as low as $400 which is where I'm getting it done and that's all windows except the windshield in 5%. The shop usually charges $625 but I got some discounts because of where I bought my truck and for my job. I want to eventually do a ceramic film on the windshield in the lightest tint possible like 75% to pretty much eliminate all heat which would be awesome in this california heat!

Actually it doesn't seem high. Are you talking about the 3M Crystalline tint? It's super thick, and does as you described. But you want to find a quality installer, because it's easy for low end shops to screw it up. It's def not the same as regular tint.

Also.... 5% ?? Is that right? I mean that's darker than limo which is usually 10%.

Local shop does 3m crystalline for windshield for $70, but they are also the shop that does all the Audi's, so the work is good and fixed if not. In and out in 30 min to an hour.



Also, most places will only take it down to 30% I believe. Remember, if you are blocking light from the front, it will make the other windows appear darker as well

I have ceramic tint on every window. I f*cking love it.
Works great.

I did 80% over the factory tint in the rear and the windshield and 20% on the front windows. It's great, this crew cab stays cooler on a sunny day than my old reg cab (2011) Ram.

Yes I'm getting 5% all around and from what I've read and experienced in my area is california is usually more expensive.

I have never ever ever heard of 3M Crystalline going for $70.00. Sounds bogus. Even expert installers can't do it in 30 minutes.

A lot of guys in my Corvette club and on the G8 boards have gotten it installed. I was quoted close to 480.00 for Corvette for the 3M Crystalline.

I ended up using a company that did my Corvette and was able to one piece the whole rear hatch, 3 years, no bubbles. I consider that quality work.

I ended up going with color stable tint on the Truck. Total was $280.00. I have 15% back and 20% upfront. I wanted to do the windshield, but the quality shops only do legal, so we have a tint line. Overall, I'm very happy.

I'd imagine price varies based on location too. Just like cars are more expensive/cheaper in different areas.

Let us know what you do, and post up some pictures. I'm curious how 5% will look.

Do you have privacy glass on the rear?

For just the windshield? They did my two front windows in 30 minutes. There's 3 people working on it at a time

I just have the factory tint on the rear and they told me it should be a 2 hour job.

Paid ~$700 for 3M Crystalline on every window including the windshield in my old Jetta back in Delaware.... made a huge difference when driving, never felt like the sun was baking my arms.

I will caution, the Crystalline, because it is so thick, will distort in the heat (I always noticed a weird ripple in the film when it was super hot) and will scratch very easily... I just bumped it with a ceramic ring and it scratched the window. The shop replaced the tint with no questions, but was annoying nonetheless.

I got an affidavit from the state police and I legally have 5% all the way around.
5% strip that cone down 10" with 50% an the whole windshield
Total coat of tint and affidavit was 325

Just curious, how and why did you do that?

You go through the state police to start the process.
It's like a prescription for tent. A Dr. Has to write off on it.
In my case sunlight gives me migraines

Oh man that looks good! I decided to tint my factory back and rear windows after inquiring on a thread here about it, seeing yours makes me want to kick myself in the butt and get going and get my done.
