So yesterday I went to get a quote on tinting my windows of my 2014 quad cab and was told the front two are already the legal limit for nc so do they come out of the factory the legal limit

No look into your local tint laws some don't let your front two windows each state is different. I had to get tint exempt in my state

From the picture in you profile it does look like it was tinted already. The dealer could have had it done. I found that NC has the same laws as Maine. I barely have a gap on my car from when I had it done so you may not have noticed it.

Mines got a good gap on them but still didn't think they were the legal limit bc when I had my windows tinted in my beat up ole toyota they were way darker

I know they are tinted just didn't know if they would come out of the factory as dark as they could go lefally

From the factory, no. Some dealers will have them tinted. As for your old car, they probably weren't legal. Your state has a 35% for the front windows. I had my car done twice because the first shop screwed up the tint. The first shop didn't use the correct film so my windows were tinted darker then the legal limit. The second shop corrected this with higher quality film that gave me legal tint.

Yep, every state is different. Personally, as a LEO I think this is BS. It should be goverened by DOT and should be the same in every state. In Ga, it's also 32% on the front windows.

Most dealers tint the front windows on the pickup's at the lot to the legal limit in the state. Since most people want them tinted anyway they make some extra money adding that in. Same with a lot of dealers and spray in bedliners. I know the Ford dealer I used to work at had all the front windows tinted on their trucks after they came in. When I got my 13 it had the front tinted and a bedliners already I just had them out some 20% over all the back windows in my CC. My 14 was sold tinted as well. I stripped it because it was too light and had it redone with 20% and 5% on the back since new truck here come with a 2 year inspection sticker and I haven't been pulled over for it in any of my other vehicles with the same tint. Though my have some scratches on my front window so I will probably redo them in 30% since 25 I think is legal now it used to be 20.
