I went from a 2017 Eco Diesel to a 2019 Hemi Classic. I still have my winter front from the 17. Do any of you run a winter front on your Hemi trucks? I live in SK, Canada and it gets cold here in the winters.

Does it have the 8 speed transmission with the dial shifter? If it does it already has grill shutters behind the grill in front of the rad.

As long as the coolant doesn't over heat while driving the winter front will help speed the engine warming up and retain heat better in cold weather. The active grill shutters are mostly for aerodynamic purposes while driving.

Thinking about doing the same to my 17 pentastar. Even now at 0 to -5’C my transmission never gets to peak operating temp after 100km.

They do stay closed till the truck is warmed up,not as good as a winter front, but they do act similiar. The downside to a winter front is it can be a bit hard on the paint, but they do work, and if the OP has one laying around,he might as well use it,as FCA usually wants a few bucks for the winter fronts, although i think they came standard with the later Eco-diesals up north,so you might as well get some use out of it,lol

When I was still driving big trucks professionally I was told the winter mask was mostly to warm the fuel on its way to the engine, rather than for the engine itself.

All one and the same I guess but the crucial element is the behavior of cold diesel which isn't shared with gasoline. I concede that it doesn't get as cold where I live as it does farther north and much of my Canadian winter experience was with a diesel rig so I masked it up
