I've got a 2020 1500 4x4 and I'm going to be needing winter tires. I live in the south and rarely have to travel in snow and ice. It looks like work may have me working in less than optimal seasonal conditions. I could be anywhere at any time. So I'm looking for recommendations for winter/snow tires.

The truck came from the dealer with a level kit installed and 33x12.5x20 NITTO Ridge Grappler tires.

BFG KO2’s are very good in the winter or if you want a dedicated snow tire, Blizzak’s are my recommendation.

Falken Wildpeak A/T3W, snow rated and an outstanding tire in all conditions. I have them on my 1500 and my 3500. Put them on shortly after buying the trucks new.

I've run the Falken AT3W and in stock size they wore out quickly on my 1500 so I went to 275/65/20 (34") and they held up better. I'm running Grabber ATX on my 2500 and they're good in all conditions. I'd avoid the 12.5" wide tire if possible if you plan to drive through much snow / slush; if it's a rarity then you'll be okay but wider isn't better in those circumstances.

I've heard that for when the Falken Wildpeak C rated were first introduced I've never heard that for their D and E rated.

I run Toyo Open Country AT2's on my 3/4 ton and AT3's on my half ton and they go great in the snow

Find a tire shop to sipe the ones you have and run them

My buddy has ridge grapplers on his jeep and he’s passed me several times on the way to work in the snow and I was going 60...

I don't find the ridge grapples very good in icy conditions. No siping and too big a lug. I run them most of the year, but not winter. I have tried them in winter though. As far as all terrains go I find the BFG Ats to be the best. I've run toyo Ats in the past and not as good, but got way more mileage out of them. Going to a harder compound sacrifices winter traction. Going to a 275/60 or 65 series 20" will help a little as narrower is better in snow to a point. Virtually any winter specific tire will hugely outperform any all terrain in the ice and snow. I run hankook ipikes. I stud them, but they're good non studded as well just lose some ice performance that only studs can really provide. Even in their 4th season for me, which means about 60,000 miles+ they still outperform any all terrains I've had, but I usually only go 3 because I deal with super icy roads all winter for long distances. Given that you're looking at occasional winter driving an all terrain will do the job fine, but if you're going to be putting on major miles and going through tires then you might as well get snow tires and a spare set of wheels. Just end up buying more tires less often and if you buy used wheels you should be able to resell them for minimal loss if you sell the truck.

Just put cooper AT3's on mine snow rated. So far great tire. Not many options out there for my 22in rims. My last ram I had the k02's they were also good.

I had the Nitto Terra Grappler G2's on my 2018 1500. Good in snow conditions, was vey pleased with them. On my 3500, I went with Firestone XT's. I took a chance with these because they were a newer tire and I liked the way the tread is on it. I will say I am very pleased with them in the crap weather up in CNY. I would have no problems going out snow covered roads with the XT's.

The only time I was concerned was when there was a heavy slush on the road and I think it was more that the truck hydroplaned vs. the tires handling slush...they use that brine on the road up here it turns the snow to an almost gel like consistency.
