I want to add seat heat to the rear of my quad cab. I dont want to buy the stock setup (back seats, console, etc) so I figured I would buy 2 seat heater kits and install them on each side of the rear seat.

I dont mind using the included switches to the control them...my question is how to get power to them. Is it as simple as just tapping off the battery and feeding them? Or will this anger the finicky BCM?

Even better...is there a place already inside the truck I can tap off of?

Thanks in advance.

Do you have heated front seats? And no you do not want to run strait to the battery you want them to turn off with the key. I would recommend having a professional to wire them in. You can melt a wire harness fast if you connect a wrong wire.

I will have heated front seats, but I have the connectors already in the truck. I dont think quad cabs could get heated rear seats, or at least not mine (I have the armrest console, if you got rear heated seats the switches for them are in the back of the full length console)

I realize they need to be switched, but the power would still need to come from the battery unless the BCM could supply the current but I know the BCM freaks out if you ask more of it than the factory told it to do.

I added aftermarket seat heaters on my front seats. Properly sized and fused wire from battery to under the seat and connected to a relay that feeds the fused power wire that came with the seat heater. The relay is triggered by an ignition controlled 12v factory 12v cig plug in dash. Along with running the power wire from the battery I had to cut, splice and extend the switch leads that came with the kit. It was designed for the switch to be placed in the trim on the sides of the seat. I wanted the switch in the dash so I had to extend that wiring.

^that's what I'm about to do as well with my aftermarket kit. Have a Painless Performance aux fuse box otw too, to keep things tidy by not adding too many things directly to the battery.

Yes a properly run automotive circuit. Good job always use a relay and always select the proper gauge wiring. Fuses are a must. I have seen and fixed a lot, A LOT! of wiring nightmares.

Kinda necroing the thread but since its mine I say its OK!

Anyway - has anyone actually ever seen the OEM heated rear seat pads? It looks like the option is only available on crew cab, but Im curious if the pads themselves would fit a quad cab rear seat. Reason being, I might be able to pickup a rear seat with the heater option....but since it sa crew cab Id prefer to just xfer the heated stuff to my quad cab rear seat.

Thanks.
