I need to replace the Uppers and shocks on my 2014 front end. Figured i can put levelers on because its going to be apart anyway. Do i need to change shock length to add a 2” leveler kit from motofab? Does anyone recommend monroe gasmatics or magnums? If so or not what shacks would work best. Im doing The rear next month so i would like to match up if possible. I like to tinker and dont have 3500 dollars currently to throw at this so its home garage install.

If you are going to level it, I would recommend longer shocks, and cambered upper ball joints to account for the suspension geometry change. Bilstein shock (part number 24-274999) comes with a 1.75 in longer body, which would help out with your level. Monroe shocks are essentially an OE replacement, and there are so many better brand name shocks, such as Fox, Bilstein, King, etc.

For a front end level you'll want those upgraded Upper control arms. Its a must of you stretch the front suspension 2-2.5" Otherwise you're just going to speed up ball joint failure.

On shocks check out Maxtrac for proper length shocks. They have some really nice products.

I haven't had a 2wd front end apart on these, but I would think the limiting factor on suspension travel at full extension are the front shocks. If you install a 2" front end spacer, all you are doing is moving the suspension static position down two inches, eliminating two inches of downward extension. Stock length shocks will keep the travel to stock length, there's no reason to change geometry of the upper control arms. If you go with longer shocks you will need to change the suspension geometry or risk overextending the upper ball joint. For comparison, on my 4x4 I just did a 1.5" front end lift which is basically a 1" thick strut spacer. From what I could see, a 1" extension should be safe, anything longer I wouldn't be comfortable with.

Thanks folks. Ive been jawing with some friends with leveled front ends they said the difference between front and rear on 1500 stocknis roughly 3” so ive bought 3” coil spacers and some new Mevotech uppers that folks say can handle the 3” spacer im putting on the front springs. I thought about just upgrading the springs but im not sure what that will do with the travel of the shocks. So im replacing the shocks and Uppers. Not a ton of money to throw at this so im probably going with Monroe’s Gas Matics and the other stuff. We will see. Thanks for the reponses.
