So obviously sick of the terrible sound quality from the update I decided to experiment a little. I have a 4 channel going to the doors and dash speakers and a 1000x1 driving each sub in the fox box. Since the update and having do turn the bass so far down it cut about 75 percent of the bass from the subs also. I decided to go to the local audio store here and picked up 4 bass blockers (300hz) and wired one up to each of the 4 channels running to the doors this limiting the amount of bass the door speakers will receive and giving me the ability to turn the bass back up on the 8.4 to reap some of the benefits of driving 2 12s under the back seat. It is obvious temporary until uconnect (if they ever do) fixes the **** update. I will say the quality is a little better because it is cutting some of the over powering back. It's not nearly as good as it was pre updated but definitely much better then it was before installing. I am able to fill some of the sound in with the subs and not having to rip the door and dash speakers apart. This can be done without an amp running the speakers also you will just have to find a good location to tap the speaker wires or go from behind the screen like I did to wire the amp. For the $20 I spent and 30 minutes it took to wire I would highly suggest it to others especially if you have subs to compensate.

What are you using to get the signal from the 8.4?

The amp accepts signal from the 8.4 factory speaker wires. Essentially cut and spliced the amp into the factory wiring (speaker wires out of the 8.4 into the amp then from the amp back to the factory harness that runs to all the speakers)

Curious about this update. I have a PAC line converter that runs RCAs to my Fosgate mono amp with punch controller. The bass setting on the radio is at -3 to minimize distortion on my 3.5s up top but I really haven’t had any issues.

Got cha. Just trying to see if this would effect the AmpPro ch-41 units that sum the signals.

If it sounds bad now (without amplification) then essentially you'd be amplifying a bad source. An audiocontol eq could help but if youre starting with a tainted source then you're likely not going to get the sound you want.

The bad update only applies to 2018 radios.

You might get even better results by adding a DSP before the amps, but that gets you into a more complex system.

Are you sure? There is some confusion regarding this.
I got a 2016. The very next year they released those with Apple Carplay. Maybe it's just those 8.4s.

I installed an aftermarket powered subwoofer in my 2018 with 8.4 and 6 speaker system. I tweaked the bass boost and low pass filter and had the system sounding really good. Then came the Uconnect software update. Now, in order to make the system sound somewhat listenable I have the bass on the head unit equalizer turned to about -6. I can't even tell I have a subwoofer in the vehicle anymore. I suppose it's because there is not enough bass getting to the subwoofer, or maybe I need to tweak those adjustments on the subwoofer again. In any case, adjusting the knob on the subwoofer's dash mounted controller does nothing. It's as if I don't have a subwoofer.

I have read posts from people on this forum with 2017's that didn't receive the update, are running older versions of the application version, and don't have the problem. I have read posts from people with 2019's that say they have the dreaded application number (21.9) and have the problem with bass heavy sound from their stereos.
