Hey folks. I just ordered the 1.5 body lift kit as it was on sale and well, F it. found a PDF of the instructions but kinda garbage IMO.

When drilling for the new brackets front and back is there a template or am I just suppose to measure on my own? And it mentions adding these metal blocks which I think are bed supports? No need to weld them right? And how will I know which bolt uses the spacer and which bolt uses the support blocks ?

Any tips would be great. Just the tip.

No you don’t have to weld anything. As for the bumper it will make a lot more sense once you actually start to install it. I know the directions sucked on the last body lift I installed sucked, but made sense once I did the install. It’s not hard to do, relax and don’t over think it.

I ordered and installed my 1.5 body lift zone kit did the same thing looked for directions must have read them 20 times before I said screw it and started it lol,
In the directions it mentions pushing the tab in on the front bumper, if I remember correctly once you push thst tab in you can then place the bracket in place using the top factory mounting hole as the bottom hole then drilling a new hole where the bracket lines up, no need to measure just hold it in place and mark it. (If that makes sense)

The only bolts that get the spacers are your cab mount/bed mounts. (what ever you do when you go to re tighten make sure your cab is aligned with your bed, that's an extra step you don't want to do 6 months down the road when you notice.. lol)

The square metal bed spacers just litterly sits under the bed and on the frame and are held in by a plastic pinecone piece they don't move once everything has been secured mine held on without issue for over 2 years now.

Good luck!!

Question for those that have installed their own.

Could I for instance install one part at a time ? Let’s say I’m running short on time (days short now) could I to be on the safe side so the back one day and the front the next day?

You could do from the back of the cab forward or from the front of the bed to the rear bumper individually but it will look pretty screwy. Took me 10 hrs from start to finish but I had some extra things I was dealing with ( previous mods that needed to be taken down / redone ). I'd say 8 hrs in and out if everything is standard. Best to have someone to assist with the bumpers if possible.

you'll do fine. Just eat your wheaties because some of those bolts are LOOOOOOOONG. Power tools are VERY helpful. Also, a stepper drill bit will make the bumper holes FAR easier than using 3 different drill bits, or trying to use the largest bit first. Once you're done you'll quickly forget all about the process and enjoy the result.

Make no bones about it. While mostly rudimentary in nature it is time consuming. If you can have someone assist through out I would otherwise you'll be doing alot of operating the jack, then climbing back underneath, then back out to operate the jack, rinse, repeat.

Agreed on the stepper bit and power tools part.

Screw standard bits - even super sharp ones will take alot longer then the step bit.

Impact gun will save you and your forearms...just snug though, then break out the the torque wrench to finish off.

I think I wasted close to 3 hrs between trying to make the required hole with a single bit, and then driving to the hardware store to buy more of same bit, and then finally using a smaller bit to get started then going bigger. A stepper would have saved me 2.5 hrs, I bet. Whole project took about 8 hrs with another guy helping me.

Thanks shadow! Honestly that stepper drill bit I got was the beat $34 I have EVER spent. Drills through steel like butter.

You guys are awesome. I like to memorize instructions and that way when it comes time to do something I’m more prepared. I also love hearing actual results from you guys that may not be outlined in instructions

Bumpers are about the only time consuming parts . I did use air tools to to speed things up some and I still spent all day on the last one I did. The last truck I put a 1.5 in , took it out and put a 3" in I was only 65 then. I only went with 1.5 on my latest truck because it was left over from my last truck or I would probably would of gone with 3 again . Not doing any more..... I hope

It took me about 4.5-5 hrs to install this kit in my work parking lot, I did everything but the spare tire which I did the next day because it got dark outside, I would say yeah the most time consuming part of this absolutely was taking the sport bumper apart also the removal/cutting of the rear bumper/ lining up the rear bumper. Definitely not a difficult job just time consuming!

I absolutely did the same thing before I installed my zone kit, if it helps... the zone instructions are pretty useless in my opinion, I also downloaded the PA body lift our trucks instructions (granted the parts are different I went back and forth between the two and the PA instructions helped me piece together what was missing in the zone instructions) I'd download it and take a look believe you cab get it from their website

One more piece of info.. lol

Cover your face or watch out when you pull your body mount bolts, all of mine had a bunch of blackish nasty water waiting to come down.

Use the PA, Zone and RC instructions together (though some steps differ, it did help).
Watch when drilling the holes on the rear bumper! Only the middle hole gets drilled. The stock bolts go back in the stock holes.
And the biggest pain was the crush blocks for me. Weird angles to get your hand in.
I did the front first and left the bed for the next day (did not drive it though).

Thanks! I’ll download those ones too!

That sounds like a rust issue for sure IMO! Maybe the body lift will help with trapped water between the body and the frame?

Is that the blocks that support the bed? The ones held in place with the push pin?
