So for us with the quads if I wanted to upgrade HB, LB, Fog what Phillips would I get?
According to my Philips rep, and what you'll read just about anywhere else is that the higher the output the shorter bulb life you're going to get. Xtreme Vision is their farthest beam and has the shortest bulb life. The reason I chose Crystal Vision is I felt it had the best of color, distance and bulb life. I'd still like to see the beam output of some LED bulbs if anyone has some, for comparison.

I’m timid to go with another set of “blue” halogens. I bought some off of eBay, granted they weren’t a name brand, but they are 100w and have the blue wrap like the crystal bulbs have and they are terrible. Can’t see a thing. My fog lights with original bulbs shine farther.

Maybe I’m comparing the incomparable I’m just apprehensive to spend $150 on all 6 bulbs to find out it’s not what I expected. At the same time I’d be even worse off to buy good LED’s at $300 to find out the same lol!

Wish I could see side by side comparisons in person since internet pics are worthless.

Maybe I read things wrong but it was my understanding the whiter the light, the hotter the burn and the faster they burned out. Phillips Xtreme Vision lists 300+ hours. Phillips Crystal Vision doesn't list ANY life span anywhere. When I was figuring out which one was right for me, I thought it was odd they list "life time" estimates on all their other bulbs.

I think it boils down to this... If you want the nice pure white light, buy the Crystal Vision. If the pure white light isn't a priority, order the Xtreme Vision bulbs. They're both an improvement over stock. You need to decide what's best for you. That's why I suggested looking at the bulb facts website. They had a lot of useful info and actual testing. The whiter bulbs have a higher color temperature. Stock yellowish bulb light is closer to 3000k and whiter light bulbs like Crystal Vision are closer to 4000k or higher.

I hear ya, a lot of us have made that mistake. These aren't cheap blue bulbs with foreign writing all over the package. I posted a few pictures of my own, no Photoshop, but let us know what you pull the trigger on.

I sure will. It’s a toss up when the halogens are $45 per pair and the Opt7 Core is $50 per pair.

I’m willing to bet those halogens have a much better beam than the leds. That’s why I’m not even considering them. Just debating which type of bulb to try or just try the conversion of the more powerful regular Philips bulbs.

By saying conversion I'm guessing you mean the 9012 and H9 bulbs? If that's the case that's great too but I don't think there's a 9012 in the Phillips Xtreme but I haven't checked in the H9.

Yea that’s the conversion. Yea I know they don’t those size bulbs that’s why I’m hesitant on what I should do, either get the factory size of the extremes or do the conversion with Philips regular replacements. Just not sure which one would have the best output since the regular replacement Philips in the conversion have more wattage and lumens than the factory size bulbs.

I went with the regular replacements doing the conversion. Should be the best of both worlds, more output and factory life span. I installed the 9012 fogs tonight and they seemed noticeably brighter in the driveway. The 9011 highs are on the bench and the H9 lows are in the mail for tomorrow delivery, so those will be going in this weekend some time. Need to wire in my new raptor grille leds at the same time.

Yea I’m leaning towards doing the same as you.

So the 9011 will replace the 9005? Any modding necessary?

Yes they need modified, just some simple trimming of the locking tabs to allow them to fit through the openings.

Question for all who know. If I'd like to get the highest output possible in a clear hue/color what full set of bulbs should I go with? Phillips crystal doesn't make the H9 or the 9012. I want the set to match.

Here's a picture of the cut off and light output with this upgrade... OEM projectors. 6f92cc33fd868f290b8fec48bfa030d9.jpgf429eefdeb4d6b5d9ad54499020ac5d8.jpg

Ok, so for LB it would be the Philips H11 CrystalVision Ultra. For fog it is Philips 9145CVB1 CrystalVision Ultra? What about the HB? And are all 3 plug and play with the exception of trimming a tab or two? Sorry for not quite getting it.

I've got a pair of 9012 crystal vision ultra if someone wants them. Used for a half hour. I went back to LEDs. $20.

I would check the fogs myself if I were you. According to the bulb finder thing, my 2016 Big Horn has 9145's in the fogs. So I decided to upgrade to the 9006 bulb. When I got under there... the truck plug was already the 9006 from the factory. Luckily I ordered the 9006's because if I had ordered what the bulb finder told me to order (9145's) I would have had to send them back to Amazon to exchange because they would have been a downgrade.
