A co-worker has a brand new Raptor so I made it a point to send him the link for the TRX and he wants one. Bad. [emoji23]

I can get into the mid 70s but that’s about all I would do. It is easier spending that on a 2500-3500 Diesel. I need to see one in person. I doubt they would let me test drive it... at least not off the showroom floor with out showing I deep enough pockets.

That clip has been out for a while...i am pretty sure if you keep searching...you will see the whole clip...and it is still the V6...what I heard on the internet

Well I guess the TRX was king for a day lol.

I love this competition pushing both sides forward. Gonna be some crazy trucks.
It’ll still be next year sometime if they still decide to do that but I still say bring it. I know on one if those articles about the TRX that they supposedly weren’t able to use any of the other Hellcat motors due to an oil sump issue with steep approach angles but still, if there’s a will, there’s a way to make that 797 Redeye motor work.

But I just wonder, how do they get that much power out of that little 5.2 L V8? And why does Mopar have to have a 6.2 L to make that kind of power?

it is a completely different way to make power a Ford guy can explain that.

I believe it will have a hard time meeting the duty cycle for a light duty truck...but it seems people are ok with dealer visits these days...lol

Different motors and super chargers.

I used to be into the drag racing scene and there could be a million variables. With forced induction you can overcome a lack of cubic inches. The power I’ve seen made from engines as small as 2.0L when you add a turbo is pretty cool. So when we’re talking 5.2 bs 6.2 it’s not that crazy to think they could get the 5.2 to make 725hp.

Either way in all seriousness I’d like either truck. This new Raptor or the TRX.

And the TRX making 20-25 less HP isn’t going to matter much. They’ll both absolutely tear it up for a production truck. I don’t think you’ll get in a TRX and think “man all it’s missing is 25 more HP” lol.

Also. Remember...RAM can make this kind of power NA as well...Mopar still sells V10s...and they can be supercharged too.

Also...the 6.2l has been dynod to 1100 horse power...it just can not meet emissions.

They can always do what they did with the Demon...and offer the crate...Mopar is not worried.

I understand it’s different manufacturers, different manufacturing techniques among a whole bunch of other different variables but it just always seems to me that in order for Mopar to make something high horsepower they have to have a really large engine to do it.

You know, just like how with the 395hp 5.7 L V-8 that’s in most of our Rams here; they just really seem like they could go much higher on the horsepower than 395. And then when you talk about the 392 hemi that’s in the heavy duty trucks; I mean, 20 hp difference between basically a 350 and a 400 is all they can do? But if you’re saying they do have a lot of wiggle room to go then I guess I could be OK with that.

I mean, I guess after all, Hennessy performance was able to take that trackhawk and turn it into 1000 hp monster.

Duty cycle...a truck engine performs much different then a car engine.

Like that ford motor...more horsepower...sure...but look at the torque. It is less.

Look at the V10 I mentioned. Model year 1999

The 8.0l Magnum truck engine...310 and 450

The 8.0 l Viper engine. 450 and 490...no duty cycle

And the 6.4l you mention.

6.4l BGE...410 and 429

6.4l SRT...485 and 475

BGE...BIG GAS ENGINE...the 5.7 l had to be replaced in the HD to get 10k GVWR

That 5.7l

1500...395 and 410
2500...383 and 400
Charger...375 and 410

So as you can see in heavy duty application...it was more than 10 lb ft...and the way it fits into the torque curve is the real eye opener

There are just a few.

If you notice...the TRX is actually tuned different too...702 HP...707 for Charger and 717 for challenger.

Mopar is not concerned about the GT500 motor in a truck

And for anyone thinking this is some glory truck not built for the task.

Remember the concept. Built with what they had at the time. They had to detune the Hellcat to 575 horsepower. They built from there and brought you all the power...minus 5 due to the alternator output and oiling.

And it has a warranty...beat on it. Make sure you have a good dealer to take it too...as that is usually the issue.

I can not find the video now...but they put this thing through all the environments and all the places to play.

It is ready to go.

Even if they could make the demon fit in terms of cooling, it's just good marketing to put the "weaker" (did I just say that? lol) engine in first, because as of now it absolutely thrashes the Ford anyway, so why jump straight to "absolute bonkers"? This way it gives them a few years to be on top, while giving us something to dream of yet down the line.
