Like I said I'm no software engineer but it doesn't seem like it should be that hard to fix this. I guess I must just be missing something. I would think they have two options that would both be pretty simple to do. First option would be to simply send out another Genie to load the dual-zone code in the truck first which would set the code into the heater control module and then use the first Genie to reinstall the single zone code. This would be very similar to how we got the ATC to work with our AE tool. The second option would be to simply do an exchange program where they had heater control module that they had already set the code on at their shop and send it out with the genie to install the single zone code into your truck. I am sure they are working on this and obviously both of those solutions have crossed their minds but I'm not sure why they haven't offered that as a way to fix this. In the meantime the members that have installed this code unsuccessfully have to deal with their climate control not working correctly until they come up with a fix because they have no way to put the regular MTC code back into their trucks.
I did receive Mike's harness. The harness looked great and was put together extremely well. The harness and the basic install / conversion went perfectly. The problem was with the genie which is well identified on here and being addressed. So you either have the choice of using the i.e. tool and risk messing up something it was not designed to do or use the genie which it was designed to do. I am in the aerospace industry so R and D is a very big part of my job and I understand that it is difficult to level set all starting configs, for all years, all model of truck and all radios involved. I started with a broken radio with very old software to start with. All while the dealer told me the basic mod was not possible let alone the ATC. Sometimes things don't go as planned but what makes a good company a great company is how the respond and remedy a situation. For that I believe the have went above and beyond and stand behind their product.
They are making it right and I have complete confidence in the tool. (At least I have AC)
I really appreciate all the help and advice from Mike, tommy and all the rest of the group along the way.
