Absolutely!! It does save gas, but when it works the way it currently does,................I think it sucks!!I wouldn't mind the MDS if it worked more seamlessly.
FCA you need to fix this.

What I find interesting is the lack of ANYTHING in the 2017 owners manual about MDS or the ECO light
That’s probably because the tow/haul mode is not considered fuel efficient. In my 09, if I use tow/haul or turn off MDS, the Fuel Saver light doesn't come on anymore.

Wow,......that's good to know. I'm running the Mobil 1 full synthetic. I would hate to switch over now though.I have noticed that if I've been driving around for a little bit getting the oil up close to 200 that the MDS works more seamlessly. FYI I'm running Pennzoil Platinum 5w-20
If I remember correctly the oil temp has a minimum temp it must reach as one of the many cenarios that must be reached prior to MDS being activated.
I believe it's 120° ?? Not positive though .

You can’t get a 8 cylinder to run as smooth on 6 cylinders as the firing timing would not be in syncI personally think there is too many people ******** about this! You knew when you bought the truck that it had MDS, & it can be turned off with a tune or button. I do agree however for the amount of technology that has gone into it, it does not work as efficient as it could/should. With as heavy as these trucks are I would think that more of a step down process would be more successful. From 8 to 6 cylinders under mild load, & down to 4 when very light load. That is probably just more technology to break down but seems like it might work better for 6-7,000 pound vehicles.
8 to 6 then to 4 cylinders.??? I've never heard that coupled with MDS operation ??
To my knowledge the 6 cylinder cenario does not exist ...

Does Caddilac 4-6-8 ring a bell. From the 1980's
I'm refering to the 5.7L Hemi only . The MDS goes from 8 to 4 cylinders , not to 6 cylinders at any point .

Yes, just like that olds V8 dieselYeah, that system was a resounding "success."
