Has anyone here put OEM 2wd spindles on a 4wd? Are they any lower?

The 2wd spindle will bolt right into place, it's good for about 1" of drop in the front and isn't enough to make the inner CV joints unhappy. They may require some modification to the back side to clear the outer CV joint, but it would just be grinding out a little bit of the bottom half behind the hub/bearing. If my Kore inner CVs don't hold up to the 4/6 with the McG's spindles then I'm picking up a set of 2wd spindles and going with a 3/5 drop by spacing the rear springs.

Correct, but the question was about spindles, not shocks/springs. Spindles will fit, shocks/springs won't.

Thank you charonblk07. I will be doing the Ground Force lowering kit on my truck in the next month or so. I liked how you added the McGaughy's spindles to go even lower but your CV issues have me concerned. I was hoping I could get an extra inch lower with OEM 2wd spindles and avoid the CV issues for a total of 3/4 or 3/5 drop.

Do you know how much drop you got out of just the Ground Force kit?

Can't tell you how much I got out of just the GF springs as I did it all at once. Others have had anywhere from 1.75 to 2.25 after everything settles down.

Alright thank you for your help. I just want to make sure it will be a noticeable difference from just the 2" rear lowering springs. :shrug:

Im debating either doing the 2wd spindles for a 1" drop in the front or just going to pick up the gf kit. I have 305/55r20s on the stock height with no rubbing... you guys think itll rub with a 1" drop? How about 2

Edit - I already have the 2" drop springs in the rear and I would be keeping those if I do the 1".

My 2014

I have a white 2014 crew cab 4x4 with the longer 6.4 bed and Mcgaughy's rear levelled kit. I am looking to lower front 1 to 2 inches and the rear another inch. I'm thinking about just removing half to 1 full cool from front and adjusting the rear accordingly. What should I be aware of as far as negative side effects? What would be a better way to go if there is one. I just have a hard time spending theoney they want for these kits if I can save some. I'd rather put money saved towards my long tube headers. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I came from a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 with Carli dominator kit so this is a little bit of a learning curve lol. Thanks again.

Guess I should add the handful of pics I have to this thread. Installed McGaughy's 2" rear springs last weekend.

Snapped this a couple hours ago. Was heading out to do some coyote hunting. Wanted to Cerakote the antenna black tonight, not sure if I'll get to it though.

Right after I finished. Was a long day as I did the wheels too.

My old floor jack died years ago, been getting by with a small 2 ton jack since. The day before I did the drop Home Depot had a screaming deal on their 3 ton jack with stands and creeper so I picked them up just so I could do my truck the next day.

That looks killer. Got any more pics?
So, all you have is the 2" drop springs? Now other suspensions mods? Is it okay to just swap out the springs like that without damaging anything?

The truck is only 3 months old. Only thing done to the suspension are the McGaughy's 2" rear drop springs. Doesn't hurt a thing. I wouldn't do anything detrimental to my brand new truck. If I wanted to go back to stock I can swap the stock springs back in after work.

The wheels are plasti dipped for now. I wasn't sure I'd care for the look and wanted to try it first. Turns out I'm in love with it and will either Cerakote the wheels this summer myself of send them to be powder coated.

Ok I guess I will add to this thread.
My truck is a 2014 Ram 1500 Crewcab 4x4 and I bought it just under 2 months ago.
It is powered by a 5.7 Hemi with the 8-speed Automatic.
Trim level is a Bighorn with factory options being;
Heated front bucket seats with full center console.
Heated leather wrapped Steering Wheel.
power folding mirrors, power sliding rear window.
Factory Navigation, premium gauges, remote start, then all your power options that come with that trim level.

Mods that I have done;

Swaped out the chrome front, rear bumpers and chrome grill for paint matched ones.
Swaped out the chrome clad 20's for some Powder coated 20's
Lowered the truck with Ground Force 2/3 kit.
Line-x spray in bed liner. Access Lorado Tonneau cover.
Recon led tails and third brake light (not pictured, just installed last night)
Valentine One radar, hard wired into rear view mirror
S&B CAI, Mufflex muffler delete, home made stubby antenna mod.
170 degree Thermostat, Diablo Intune DCX with JG custom tune.

I think that is about it, but more planned.

Bill
