Got in the truck around noon today to run to the store and really noticed how hot the headliner was. I leave my sunglasses tucked between the headliner and sun visor and the sunglasses were hot when I put them on. The weren't even in the sun. So, I decided to go ahead a drop the headliner and sound deaden and insulate the roof. Took about 3 hours to complete and I left the headliner in the truck. Only way I would have been able to pull it out completely was to remove at least one front seat, probably both. Anyhow, it's all done and back together. Should be much cooler now and driving to the store, I really notice how much quieter the cab is. I have all 4 doors done as well. Still need to do the back wall and the floor. Eventually.
The 2, black squares on the roof are from the factory. The do absolutely nothing to help deaden the roof panel. I left them in place as they were stuck there pretty good. I've seen some that were falling off so people would remove them completely.
Just checked the truck and it is noticeably cooler inside as compared to yesterday. Similar weather too. Still hot but not near as bad as it was. I'm thinking about dropping the headliner again to apply a second layer of the Noico sound deadener/insulation to just the recessed "pockets" where the roof skin is. There should be enough room still.
