I’ve seen people joke and say get a Cadillac, but I wanna keep my Tradesman 2500.

What type of shocks or suspension would be recommended to minimize the amount of movement/sound I get when going over bumps or bad cracks on the road?

Thanks!

This may be a dumb question, but canI install these systems myself or is it recommended to take the items I buy to a shop?

You can do it yourself Pretty easily. Just need a spring compressor for the front struts. Most shops will do the works for around $300 tho

For a smooth ride kit, do I just need the shocks or the springs too?

Usually just shocks. Springs start costing good $$

Check the pressure in your tires ... Dealer monkey or oil change guy may have run em up to max PSI ... Unless you are hauling or towing, there is no reason for that ... I run my E load tires at 40-45 psi ... They wear great, and ride a lot better

Usually the Thuren, Carli, and similar springs have a softer spring rate, so if you don't need as much hauling capacity, such as for a plow, I'd opt for the softer front springs. The bonus is they will typically be a leveling or lift spring so the heavy rake will be lessened. They should tell you on the respective manufacturer page whether the spring rates are softer; Thuren is 26-30% softer and will run about $360 a pair, then replace your shocks of choice. You can also get softer rear springs, but it depends on what you're carrying in your truck or hauling as to whether or not that's a good idea. Either way, it's much cheaper than a Cadillac :)
