Hey All,
I just took a chance on eBay and bought an RBZ for $152.50 - and it works great!

Here is the auction that I won

The seller was nurselb05 and they appear to be getting these radios from somewhere that refurbishes them. Mine looks refurbished with lots of red and green marks near all the connections. It might be worth the risk if you are looking for an RBZ. All I can say is that mine worked, but it does have the Chrysler logo on the screen instead of the Ram logo.

My Express came with an RES without UConnect buttons. I would like to add the ability to connect and answer my phone via bluetooth. If I understand everything that I have read, I need a UConnect kit to plug into the back of my new RBZ, is this correct? Which UConnect do I need?

I would also like to backup and side cameras. I have read that using a Lockpick unit is the easiest way to do this. Is this correct? Other than cameras what else do I need? Which Lockpick should I look at?

Thanks!

BTW, the reason I think I got my RBZ so cheap was that he listed three radios in three auctions that all ended within five minutes of each other. The first radio went for $255, the second went for $224.72, and mine went for $152.50. I think he is competing with himself. Instead of me bidding on the first radio competing with the guy that won that I auction I just went to the second and then the third. They are doing the same exact thing again. He has an REN, RBZ, and another RBZ all listed in auctions that end minutes of each other.

You lucky dog! A while back I was searching for a high speed RBZ and couldn't touch one for under $300 I'd have snapped up any one I could've found at $200 or so.

In My 2011 I added Uconnect ( I have the 130 RES WITH the uconnect buttons). I installed the module part number 82212159 and the glove box USB add on part number 82212160.

Just be aware that the uconnect won't work until you have the a dealer flash the computer to add the uconnect sales code.

I installed everything my self and had the dealer flash it. It's all direct plug in with no splicing.

Thanks Ocelot, I ordered that kit today.

What Lockpick is everyone using? The Coastal eTech MyGig Lockpick Version 5 looks like the one to go with. Version 5 includes the ability to have turn signal and backup cameras, how does that work? Will I have to splice into my factory wiring harness for the turn signals and reverse lights?

Does anyone know how to read the software version on my radio?

I would like to load the latest software version on it as discussed in this thread.

Even though I don't have NAV I thought I would try the update anyhow, but I can't figure out how to read the version number or date.

Just an FYI, the same Seller has 3 auctions ending tonight. I would advise that you guys don't bid against one another. You guys should post here if you're bidding on one of the items.

Did you ever find where to get the updated software?

The software posted on the jeep forum did not work. My unit does not recognize it. When I go to my dealer to add the UConnect (phone) code I'm going to see if they can update it.

I looked at those. The only thing that scares me is the disclaimer about having no way to test them. Sounds like he's covering himself in case you get one and it doesn't work.

Thanks to you posting your win I got the second one offered last night for $160.
A great deal! I had stopped looking for a while since most were well into the 300's and up.

$160 was a great deal and I was able to keep the price down with bidding software.

You are very welcome! This was my intent. I wonder if anyone else won from here.

I hope yours works out good. Hopefully we can find software updates too.

What bidding softwear are you using? Do that way when I try again I'll have luck.

I've used software called "Auction Sentry Deluxe" for close to 10 years. I got a lifetime license back then for like $24.... It's still being updated pretty regularly. In fact it just had an update last week. It's saved me a fortune over the years.

The way it works is you enter an auction number you want and then set it for the maximum price you are willing to pay. Then it synchronizes its clock with eBay's official time. When the auction is about to end, the software logs into your eBay account and places the bid for you at the very end.

I have mine set to sneak the bid in five seconds before the end.
It also alerts you when ever there is a change in the auction like a new bid, etc.

See, the reason a price goes up high in an auction is when two or more people bid back and forth. If you just put your maximum price in a regular eBay bid, eBay will keep bidding for you automatically, but the price still keeps going up every time someone bids against you until it reaches your max.

Last night for example, I put $200 as my max bid in the software. Five seconds before the end, it placed a $200 bid and I ended up getting it for $160

If I put $200 in a regular bid early, the price might have gone up too or above that as others tried to be the high bidder.
