Glad to see you two come in. Look over my shoulder on this thinking. I have spent time reading about this issue. Those members who replace their valve train with an aftermarket kit. We have no post, that I can find saying they had another problem. A roller cam kit comes with cam, rollers, lifters push rods and springs. Is that correct? If that is solving their problem it makes me think about the spring pressure. I know we have been suspect of the quality of the lifter parts,,,but maybe it is simpler than that.

Im staying with 5W-30, but the PUP still hasnt quieted down.

Giving it to the end of July and if its not better Ill be going to PYB. Pains me to buy it, because its not very much cheaper than PUP!
PUP & PYB are great oils , but if your 5.7L is noisy then 5W-30 Redline oil should be considered heavily Sir , as it's been proven too many times to count here an the Ram Forum

JMO but I think aftermarket kits, even in a stock grind, are primarily produced by a high performance company. I'm thinking their quality insurance inspections would be more stringent than what is required for OEM. I know that if I have to replace mine after warranty that there is no way I'm putting OEM back in. If you go with even a mild cam will that necessitate getting a tune or will computer just pick it up?

My tech just stopped by to have a beer. He claims, the early Hemi engine can take a mild cam upgrade with out a tune. The ECM was not as sensitive or sophisticated. The later Hemi's do require "program adjustment" for best performance.

The valve spring has to have sufficient tension to keep the lifter in contact with the ramps of the cam. More aggressive cam profiles need more tension or things get ugly in a hurry.
Would you say our Hemi cams are aggressive. What I am stuck on is a suspicion that the valve spring tension/pressure "maybe" to high for the rollers.

TBH, I don't have an answer for you on the cam profile. As to spring tension causing issues, it's usually the reverse, as in inadequate tension and/or improper material, etc. allowing valve float. Everything has to work together as a system. That's what the engineers are supposed to figure out:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

On Edit: The rolleyes smilies were directed at mother MOPAR for leaving us holding the bag on these mysteries.

Sorry I have been on vacation and very busy. I sold the Ram to a friend on vacation. If you want something I had on it I kept some of the mods to resell so message me on that. I’ll try and get back on here when I get back from my work trip to Utah.

Looks pretty clean for an ten year old vehicle!

It is and I know it is dirty to own a GM but Ram doesn’t have anything big enough for my family. If they made a Ramburban I would buy it. I paid cash for this so I am happy. The 6.2L sounds amazing but geared the way it is my Ram would smoke it.

Always wondered why Ram did not build a Suburban.

Me too. I looked at buying a nice newer Suburban or Yukon XL. I just decided sticking to my Dave Ramsey plan was better. This has AWD and I prefer that for life on the road and barely ever off road.

I have a pedal commander for the Ram I don’t own now which has been used 2 days. Dang it!
