What a difference these made in the snow and ice. They rub at full lock on the drivers side part of the sway bar. Here is a pic. Sorry about the quality. It’s so nasty and cold. My truck isn’t going to be clean for a while. Another pic added with mounted height.

I’m sure the STTs are awesome off-road. I have had these BFGs on my Rubicon’s in this size. I wanted to try what everyone was raving about with the Pros but I just didn’t see it. I should have just bought these 37s in the beginning. Oh well. It’s not like I haven’t screwed up before. Lol

And it's not like the STT pros arnt good... for what they are intended for. But for on road driving, an AT will be better any day.

It all depends what you use your rig for. I had the KM2's on my Rubicon. Loved them, but I wasnt gonna put them on the PW because it has mainly been an on road DD/toter/weekend warrior. Sometimes you just have to let function trump form.

I agree. They are a different animal on a Jeep. I too had KM2 on my JK and they were great on everything except ice and snow. Use the tool that makes sense at the time, I say.

I bought this thing to partially replace my Rubicon. I’ve already run the rough trails in this state. I have a side by side for the rest. I’ll still take it up the standard easy stuff like Mosquito pass, Alpine loop and the like but I’m done with the hard stuff. I’ll tow the X3 around for that.

I completely understand. I find it hard to beat up a $60k truck. But Im just that type. Maybe if money was no object I would think differently.

Found this article in regards to comparing the Cooper STT Pro, ST Maxx, and the A/T on fuel economy.

http://roadtraveler.net/tread-matters-tire-selection-and-fuel-economy/

Drive to Colo Spgs from a Grand Mesa, Colorado rural area quite often. Went over Wilkerson, Hoosier, and Vail Pass via Breckenridge during our last winter snowstorm with my Power Wagon on my 34" Cooper ST Maxx tires with absolutely no slip. They seem to have a good extreme cold winter weather rubber compound. The lowest temperature during the trip was a minus 16 in South Park and nothing higher than zero on the drive home. Figure that the same or similar material compound is utilized in the STT Pro due to they share the same 3 ply tire carcass design. Only, slightly familiar with them due to my son-in-law runs the 35" STT Pro on his Rubicon.

I haven't tried the STT Pro and so I have no experience with them in snow. They have less sipes than the Duratrac, KO2, and the ST Maxx though that I own.

Like I said before. The Coppers can’t be but great tires. I like them. I wanted 37”s and they just didn’t work for me with the 35’s, so I went to what I’m used to. A lot of this is just personal preference. I knew living where I live, I would need something a bit more snow worthy, as well as wanting 37s. I settled for 35s and made a mistake. As many Jeeps I’ve owned in the last 30 years, I should have known better. Lol. It’s been so icy now for days. Pretty normal anymore.

We live in the same area on the western slope. Some tires just look cool, but it's function in winter that matters most.

Reuben, Magnesium Chloride isn't new tire and wheel friendly. So good luck with keeping them from leaking.

Just prior to Christmas I was heading to Colo Spgs very early in the morning across Vail Pass of which my Power Wagon was again drenched during a snowstorm by the sprayers of multiple snowplows with Magnesium Chloride. Been in this situation many times before, so that's nothing new. I left the crazy semi truck Interstate for a more peaceful route over Hoosier Pass, except for my hard to see out of Magnesium Chloride thickly gooped covered windows. We shared the snow covered road with very few vehicles.

What didn't surprise me as news is reading that Magnesium Chloride will corrode the wheel lip at the tire bead. I am surprised that this article was even published though considering how environmental and clean air friendly Magnesium Chloride was promoted as being an alternative to gravel and road salt.

Yes sir. I wash my vehicles about once a week. Even in bad weather to try and keep the mag off them. It’s almost as bad as salt. Especially to, like you said, wheels and wiring. I think I would just rather them use salt. It sure cleans the roads off better.

OT, but what do you think of your Randy Ellis light mount? Considering one myself for a light bar or 4x driving lights.

I like the look and its sturdy. Good quality bar with nice light mounts. I think its a little overpriced.

Yeah, is a bit pricey. Also debating trying to find someone to fab one that also includes a small bracket with an ORV flag mount for the dunes.
