Not sure, this was probably 2 years ago now. Hopefully they’ve improved them. After I returned the unit I bought one from xtrons, it’s horizontal instead of vertical. It works flawlessly though.

I'd like to know more. What year is your truck, any pics of this installed, etc. I'm looking to upgrade my tradesman 2500 with the base stereo (no touch screen and back up camera in the rearview mirror). What kit did you use to mount this?

Ha! So I looked up the companies that manufacture all these radios....you can find all the radios that Phoenix, Rhino and Linkswell sells from these companies. Looks like they are all bootleg knock-offs. I haven't seen one company that has patent on this concept. Ohh and I found a picture of the children who build these radios. The Nike factory is right next door....lol

Here are a few pictures. I used the metro install kit with harness. It is pretty tight with the screws they use on the side to hold the screen. I was only able to get one side it, but I never have had problems with it being loose or anything like that. The third picture is the screw I’m talking about.

Resized_20170929_174759.jpeg I have a 2017 Bighorn with 8.4 non-nav unit everything else but heated seat and steering wheel. I've added Carpeformance.se android system that runs 4.4 Kitkat when I bought the truck and have been considering purchasing the v4 version. After finding info thru this Site about the Tesla style i have some questions. Features like hill assist and Park sense audible sounds. Are options like those still functional but adjusted / accessed thru ALFAOBD or are they gone? Also uconnect app for remote starting from android is probably a given that it would be gone if the radio is removed.

Thanks

Steve

Ok so I got my PX6 unit on Monday but waited until yesterday to install. I was leveling my truck and replacing the brakes. I have to say so far I am happy with the PX6 unit. The boot time is almost a non issue with how quick it boots up. The menus are a little different so getting use to those still. I do like that there is a setting to hide the carplay menu item. Since I didn't purchase the addon because I already have a dongle.

Also I noticed the sound quality is now comparable to my stock radio. Plus they have fixed the issue with switching between the radio and apps. The radio now cuts out when you start playing music from an app like spotify.

The speed at which everything moves is so fluid and nice. Like the latest Android or Apple phone. Apps load almost instantly and streaming video is much quicker to load. I am still dialing in the unit and haven't had a chance to test the built in mic. I will test that on the way home today.

**Disclaimer - I have zero features and my stock radio was Uconnect 3.0. I can't really test anything like steering wheel controls, backup cameras, etc.

Glad you finally got yours. That took a darn eternity. My return process with PA was smooth, took them a few extra days to post the credit, but they came through on that end. In the meantime I reverted back to my tablet configuration I had in my Jetta and that has suited me well. I use a 7in tablet in landscape mode and have split screen setup with one app being Waze or GMpas and the other side with either a music or video app. While this is clearly not integrated it allows me to get what I need without the hassle the built in unit gave me.

I was on vacation last week and didn't drive my truck for a while. Back at it this week. Asking Phoenix why my 4 speed fan is only a 3 speed with no difference between 2 and 3. Already tried changing the car type and protocol. I am still trying to find out if I can adjust the mic volume. According to Phoenix there should be a field called 'Elimination Parameter' but that doesn't exist on the PX6 unit.

Other things I have noticed with the PX6 unit is there is no setting to change the background image like I had with my PX3 unit under More settings (Android settings). This is the image that is displayed behind the built in launcher or radio app. Not really a big deal as I use a custom launcher anyway but I do like it to match the background of the custom launcher.

I turned off 'Display speed' for the default launcher and to my surprise it also turns off the image of the ram truck and any custom 'ZXWLOGO.png' image I try to add. Again not really a big deal.

Door open display is not working even though the setting is on not sure why still working on that one. Not a big deal it still shows on the cluster display.

I think that is it for now. I am really enjoying the speed of the PX6 unit and the audio switching between apps has been working perfectly. The boot time is still a non issue even after loading a ton of apps on my unit. Also with the T-mobile Syncup Drive I find myself not even using the carlinkit dongle because of how fast the PX6 unit is.

Note: @SitKneelBend I have tried the anti glare screen protector on two units now and it lasts a week before I peel it off, lol. It washes out the color of the display too much for me. My advice to anyone is go with what you like on your phone. I use nothing on my phone and the same is true with this radio for me.

2015 bighorn park sensors don’t sound , ac controls show strange temperatures ranging all over the place . Reverse camera did not work when put in reverse had to wire to fuse box these are just a few of the most irritating issues .

That's it! I'm DONE! I finally started to enjoy this head unit after trying three different ones. The PX6 unit was working great yesterday. I went to shoot a video this morning for Phoenix to show them the fan speed issue I am having and the POS started SMOKING!! See for yourself. I love how clean this head unit looks installed but I am going to go with a name brand replacement.

It wouldn't hurt to power it up outside of the vehicle to ensure it is the radio. I'm sure it is, but you wouldn't want to be wrong in this situation (make sure it's not the truck side).

Note: if they refund your money without requiring a return I will pay you for spare parts!

Yeah I am going to pull it but leave it connected and start my truck to see if I can tell where it is smoking from. Overheating shouldn't be a problem this morning either. The air temp is only 68 degrees. I'll let you know what they say about the return.

I'm sure they'll want it back...

Edit:. If it's smoking I wouldn't power it up using the vehicle power again. These can be powered up using an old 12v power adapter/supply if you have one. I used an old power supply from an IP camera.

Okay guys I am having problems with my AC in my Phoenix Android Radio. The AC works as far as changing the speed and all that but the temperature is not showing anything but low. I talked to Big Daddy's House and he suggested I post in here. My truck is a Manual AC with a single control and my original 8.4 inch Uconnect screen just had a bar that went from blue to red to determine the temp but Big Daddy's House says his is a manual AC and the temp works in his truck. He told me the cannabis settings could be wrong. My truck is a 2014 RAM 1500

Well unfortunately I didn't listen to you and dont have my stock radio in my truck, lol. I was able to remove the two screws holding the trim so I can quickly pull the head unit out if it starts smoking on my way home. :)

Man, you have the three button model. Completely different UI.... Do any of you guys have experience with this unit? Can the low and high settings be changed to degrees?

I believe it's the new weird CANBUS update on them. It's a programming error if I'm not mistaken in what's happening.

I bought mine from Phoenix Android Radio if that helps. At the time I bought mine I got the 7.1 fast boot model and it burnt up so I sent it back for a replacement and supposedly I got the latest update. When I text asking is there a newer update they just keep telling me they have not heard back from the manufacturer.
