My first thought also, engines with absolutely no prior issues mysteriously seizing up on their own without a sound just doesn't sound right. Not impossible, but I'd be skeptical. The hard, maybe impossible, part would be trying to prove they were negligent.
I say show me the lifters any bad and the cam look on utube u ll see new oil no think engine had something had to lock up !

Edit: nevemind. Ram lowered the powertrain warranty to 60k for 2016 models from 100k in 2015. Super lame. Complain to ram cares.

I was told by my dealer in 2016 that GM lowered their powertrain warranty so FCA followed. It's all about the green backs!

I think the 2016s have a 5 year 60,000 mile power train warranty. You are just slightly over on miles. The fact that some ******* said it’s perfectly acceptable for the motor to suffer catastrophic failure at that mileage is pure *********. You will be out atleast 5,000.00. The dealer will nail U for labor, every nut bolt, seal, all fluids. I would consider taking it to another shop and have them find out what failed. They can probably do that by pulling the timing chain cover and oil pan. If it were moving parts you would have heard it destroy itself. It’s not going to silently go while driving....
I am just as confused as everyone else as to why it seemed to fail silently.

Not normal AT ALL! Multiply your miles by 3 and maybe. Was it treated well as in oil changes and such
Only ever dealership serviced, never taken to a race track of any kind, primarily a people carrier, occasional trailer tows and pulling out stuck vehicles.

Agreed, I'm not implying it didn't lock up, as chrisbh17 brought up, questioning the cause

I dont think anyone would expect any current production engine to die at 60K miles, regardless of someone's belief in extended warranties

I bought MaxCare Lifetime just because, but again I was not purchasing it expecting my 60K mile old engine to seize. I was more concerned with the transmission and electronics.
Have you had to use the warranty? Looking for one now for my ram. If so any issues?

Have not had to yet, truck is still under factory 3/36K for another 8 months, powertrain 5/60K for another 2 years and 8 months.

I tend to keep my vehicles a really long time, so Im expecting I will use it at least once or twice before the truck is completely dead (barring hitting the lotto I probably wont sell it and buy another until its completely dead). With the cost of even simple stuff at this point, the $2600 I spent on it will most likely get paid back.

To put my miles in perspective....Im 8 months away from 3 years, and my truck has 14,700 miles on it. Id be lucky if I make it to half of the 36K miles in 3 years.

If they are offering to pay 1/2 For a new 5.7 I’d hop all over it! I got the 8 year 100K mile bumped to bumper warranty on mine. At the time of purchase the lifetime warranty was not being offered anymore unfortunately. My truck is dealer serviced just got this reason!

I bought my 2019 Ram Classic used, the dealer I go to puts lifetime Powertrain warranties on all of his newer used vehicles I paid the extra for the life time on everything. It was just to have piece of mind looking at all the electronics in this truck. Even if it didn’t come with lifetime Powertrain I probably would have added it all anyhow. The only thing that ever went wrong with my 2004 was the radio I hardly ever used. That radio didn’t have a buck up cam and climate controls in it so was an easy aftermarket fix. This truck on the other hand the radio does more that play radio stations so I don’t think it would be easy to put in a $130 aftermarket upgrade
