Getting an extended warranty is still a crap shoot as to what it will cover and if you will ever need it. You may never need it and then you’re out that money for no reason. I can understand getting 1 with a used vehicle, but not so much with a new one u less you know that you have no idea how to fix anything on it or the desire to fix anything. I don’t believe you had a right to attack those of us that don’t have an extended warranty just because you bought one. Plus, this is now taking the whole point of his post way off track. I’ve said my peace and I’m done with this point.

OP, please let us know if you ever find out what caused your engine to lock up or if you did just walk away from Rams. I’d be curious to know the cause. I know you said that you would tell us if you found out.

The point of this post was about crying about having to pay most of the bill out of pocket to put in a new engine. You show that you have a 2013 Ram and although 2013 is very advanced with electronic operations of the vehicle the new 2019 and 2020 are way more advanced than the 2013. If you think you can do any repairs on it yourself then great. Most of the repairs needed require expensive diagnostic computers and special tools. Also most major parts will cost more than the extended warranty would ever cost. So it's your choice to take the risk of not having extended protection, the vehicle's of today are not like the fifties and sixties or even the seventies where a ten year old could work on one of them.

Agree with this. I've seen the motor in my wifes infiniti 2 times in 5 yrs. **** I've never even pulled the dip stick to check the oil lol.

I bought my 2019 Ram Classic used, the dealer I go to puts lifetime Powertrain warranties on all of his newer used vehicles I paid the extra for the life time on everything. It was just to have piece of mind looking at all the electronics in this truck. Even if it didn’t come with lifetime Powertrain I probably would have added it all anyhow. The only thing that ever went wrong with my 2004 was the radio I hardly ever used. That radio didn’t have a buck up cam and climate controls in it so was an easy aftermarket fix. This truck on the other hand the radio does more that play radio stations so I don’t think it would be easy to put in a $130 aftermarket upgrade

Good move and you are correct about the radio,it performs many functions of the truck!

It sounds like getting complete satisfaction out of the dealer/Chrysler is like beating a dead horse into the ground. Customer satisfaction goes a long way for A brands customer loyalty and and repeat sales. I’m sure that most if not all car companies have similar horror stories but it would be wise for any company to go the extra mile. I have a 2014 Ram and have had great performance with 70k miles. But by chance talking to prospective truck buying customers I’ve found that there is distrust concerning product reliability with Ram. Like I said I haven’t found this to be true. It’s human nature to dwell on negative experiences that overshadow positive experiences. Again, this imo Product brands need to go over and beyond to please disgruntled consumers.

It used to be that one could expect a vehicle to go 10+ years with just proper routine maintenance and replacement of wear and tear parts. I fear those days are long gone.

I called Ram care and 3 different people said sir you have exceeded the life of your truck “
My contract said 99 years or 999,000 miles
Paid 579.00 to fix the hub , service advisor was no help

I finally got in touch with MVP CARE the lady sent a email and wanted the receipt, Will See what happens

I sold the truck last month

The maxcare lifetime becomes void once the cost of fix is more than the book value of the truck.

Fca will cut you a check for the book value of the truck and the warranty will be no longer. It's in the contract, it's not anyone weaseling out of coverage.

It seems that carmakers are into a great experiment electronically especially, and also to see just how cheap they can make parts and then use the consumers time and hardship to get the bugs out while at the same time adding more bugs into the electronics/mechanical parts. When they've had technology for decades to build a tailgate/ latch and we have tailgates fall off just proves my point.Idiots engineers and designers sitting in front of a computer screen that says everything will work, but only because they just programmed that answer into that computer. Rant over...

Do you think that an engineer that actually changes his own oil would have ever put the damn oil filter where it is. LOL

I'd get a quote and check locally. I wouldn't be surprised if half price at the dealership is still more than your local mechanic can do it for. Just a though. Sorry about that. Really a phocked situation.

Back window busted right around Christmas. Dealership wanted 1920 + tax

Auto glass took my Vin and quoted me at 640$ all said and done

just an example of dealership jumping prices

The engineers built the engine, the designers designed the vehicle to make the engine fit....

The 5.7 is so widely used, with our luck it's probably only horrible to get to the filter in our application. Even worse when they went to electric steering.
