Seized caliper should have been covered and if that took out the rotor and pads then it should covered as well. They're only on the hook for the side that seized though. You need to go after FCA.

Bumper to bumper expired Friday. Happened Monday morning.

Local dealer offered to “good will” the caliper, but not the rotor or pads... or tow from work to the only dealer around. Local shop fixed me up.

My rears actually went bad before my fronts.

Rears replaced pads and rotors with stock equivalent 110k miles
Fronts replaced with PowerStop slotter/xdrilled kit at 120k miles <- love this setup!

I’m at 64k and plan to change mine out soon. There is a lot of meat left on the pads, but they’ve been sealing since not long after I bought it in 2017 (it was a dealer demo with 5k on it, I bought it in 7/17).

can't remember which one I did, (Read Son-in-law the Mechanic) front or rears, but did it about 100K miles.
Other brakes are still Original with a 112K on them.
I drive 90%+ Interstate.

Depends where you live more than anything IMO. Rust belt livin' equals much shorter brake life.

Brakes are smoked all the way around on my 2017 Ram 1500 at 50k miles and that's actually a really good run. Your typically lucky to get 2yrs/36k mi out of them on most vehicles.

The biggest issue on Ram 1500s is the parking brake. Mine has been messed up for months and I exercised it a few times a month. Search cable sag or the other threads on it. It's a $1300 shop job.

Gonna have plenty of time on my hands, I'll probably order a set of rear emergency brake shoes also.

I got right around there on my truck. Now my 01 Ram goes through brakes every 8-10K miles

My 2001 was the same way. It ate front brakes. They were used up within 18 months. I'd have to get my notebook to see how many miles that was. I could still have the factory shoes on the back at 330k miles, but I chose to replace them just in case. Way too much front bias. Put SSB on the front with slotted rotors and extended it to 24 months. Apparently, they are out of business now.

Front brakes and rotors at 79k miles
Rear needs to be done now at 107k miles

Light use overall but I used to pull a travel trailer camper in summer weekends.

I never touched the brakes on either of my two 4th gens, a 2010 with 108,000 miles, or my 2014 with 97,000 miles.

I have 80,000 miles on my Nov 2014 build date 2015 RAM 2500. Still original pads front and rear. Yep, lots of expressway and some towing. When I go in for my next oil change and tire rotation I’ll ask for a good look at the brakes. I have an excellent local dealer. Your mileage may vary. I would do it myself if I wasn’t old and worn out.

I am frequently being told by tech at dealer I need brakes. Funny the wheels were not pulled. Then when I pulled them to check the pads all good.

On my mini van I got somewhere between 75 and 100 thousand out of front. The rear were still half good at 175K. There was still miles left in all.

On my 2500 Ram Van (full size) with drum rear brakes at 200,000 + still had the original shoes with about half used up.

A lot depends on how you drive. My father in law "rested" his foot on the brake pedal. When we got his MoPar retiree trade in mini van at 20,000 I had to replace front and rear.

City driving will eat them up quicker than highway. So my advice is to start checking them after 50,000 unless you "rest" your foot on the brake pedal. Then I'd check every 20K.

My 2012 had about 30k and the guy that did the brakes had to cut the rotors off. Rears had nearly no pad? I've been hearing it isn't uncommon? Rotor had rotted and were delaminating.

Traded in my 2013 back in October. Had 140,000 never replaced front or rear -I checked and both were still good.

Damn, my ‘11 Ram Sport has about 64,000 and I’ve had to have pads and rotors done twice, front and rear. Mostly around town driving, but I drive pretty gently, no hard braking. And my local mechanic is extremely trust worthy.

2016 RAM 1500. Got 36,000 out of original brakes. Front inside pad hung up and ate the roter. Replaced pads and rotors all around with PowerStop. It's a crew cab. On weekends I fill it with humans and stuff (and sometimes drag a trailer) and we drive where there are lots of hills and deer. Weekdays, it's my daily driver in loads of traffic. I would have rather gotten 50k out of them - and backs may have gone that far, but the fronts not so much...
